Kathy Hoffman’s ADE and Donors Choose Partner Again to Help Teachers Purchase Supplies to Help Children Learn

For the second time this year, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE,) led by Kathy Hoffman, and the teacher supply assistance organization, Donors Choose, have partnered to help instructors apply for needed funds to assist their supply needs in order to lift up child learning.

In March, 2022, the ADE and Donors Choose joined forces so instructors could spend up to a thousand dollars in COVID relief money the ADE had jurisdiction over to obtain supplies to help children.

All total, “$14 million went to 15,446 Arizona teachers at over 1,600 schools.”

This time, starting today (August 22, 2022) teachers can request up to $600 in supply requests from a $five million pool of COVID relief funds on a first come, first served basis by clicking below.

According to a press release from the ADE, it is estimated about 8,300 teachers will qualify for these funds.

Forty Percent of the funds will be distributed to Arizona’s 13 rural counties. The other sixty percent will be divided between the more populous Maricopa and Pima Counties.

Commenting on the continuation of this partnership with Donors Choose, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman offered:

“After the last few deeply challenging school years, Arizona educators and students need all the support we can give them. After the overwhelmingly positive response from teachers and students to our first round of funding, it was an easy decision to allocate additional classroom funds to teachers as they begin the new school year. And with dedicated funds available to our state’s rural classrooms, we’re positive teachers and students in all corners of our state will benefit from this opportunity.”

She also posted on social media:

Alix Guerrier, the CEO of DonorsChoose, in the ADE press release, stated:

“The Arizona Department of Education is once again giving teachers a boost of support as classrooms head into a new school year. This initiative will especially empower educators who need it most, and it will ensure that Arizona students have the extra resources they need this back-to-school season.”

According to the ADE press release, “all Arizona public school educators teaching Pre-K through 12th-grade students are eligible for this program. Educators can request classroom resources, including but not limited to supplies, technology, and instructional materials.”

Please share this article with any Arizona teacher that is need of getting valuable supplies for their classroom so their students will have greater opportunities to learn.
