Key Abortion Rights Group Backs Ruben Gallego for US Senate

A powerful abortion-rights group — Reproductive Freedom for All, formerly known as NARAL Pro-Choice America — today endorsed Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in the Arizona Senate race.

“Electing him [Gallego] to the U.S. Senate could mean the difference between passing critical abortion and voting rights legislation or seeing it again blocked by extremist Republicans,” said Reproductive Freedom for All President and CEO Mini Timmaraju.

“At a time when GOP extremists are pushing abortion bans every chance they get, I promise to be an unwavering defender of reproductive rights in the U.S. Senate,” Gallego, who in January announced his bid to unseat Sinema, said.

“Reproductive Freedom for All is leading the charge to protect abortion rights across America — including right here in Arizona — and I am honored to have them on our team.”

The group is a key organization that funds candidates who support abortion rights. Back in 2018, Reproductive Freedom for All endorsed quisling Kyrsten Sinema, who later abandoned Democrats who voted for her by becoming an “independent.”

Sinema has filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission to run for the U.S. Senate again in 2024. She has been preparing to run again, pleading for money from her Big Pharma and Wall Street base.

The move by Reproductive Freedom for All is notable. Sinema’s relationship with a number of abortion-rights groups and other Democratic-aligned organizations deteriorated in 2021 after she voted with Republicans against Democratic voting rights legislation. Groups including EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Reproductive Freedom for All vowed that they would not support her if she ran again.

“The stakes in Arizona have never been higher, and electing a reproductive freedom champion into this seat is essential for protecting and advancing our constitutional rights, not only for Arizonans but for all Americans,” the group’s president and CEO, Mini Timmaraju, said in a statement. “This is why we are thrilled to make this endorsement our first as Reproductive Freedom for All.”

He said he would “be an unwavering defender of reproductive rights in the U.S. Senate.”
