Marcelino Quiñonez Appointed to LD 27 House Seat of Diego Rodriguez

From a AZ House Democratic Caucus press release:

House Democrats welcomed Marcelino Quiñonez of Phoenix as the newly appointed representative from Legislative District 27. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously appointed Quiñonez — an educator, non-profit leader, and playwright — during a special meeting earlier today. He replaces former Representative Diego Rodriguez, who resigned in November to run for Attorney General. Quiñonez was the Director of Educational Outreach and Partnerships for Arizona State University and remains active in the arts community. In 2018 he co-wrote and co-starred in the play “Dear Senator” with the late Attorney General Grant Woods.

“I’ve known Marcelino for nearly a decade, and I’ve seen up close the impact he has made in our community on a variety of levels,” said House Democratic Leader Reginald Bolding, who also represents LD 27. “His passion for public service and deep connection to our district will be a valuable addition to complete our caucus as we head into a challenging session, and I’m personally thrilled to welcome him as my new seatmate.”

“I’m extremely humbled and honored by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and Supervisor Steve Gallardo for their support and appointment as the new State Representative-Elect in Legislative District 27,” Quiñonez said. “My commitment is to continue to serve within this new leadership role, represent the district with integrity and give a voice to the constituents of LD 27. I’m looking forward to learning from other legislative leaders and the people of LD 27.”
