Mark Brnovich Actions are Disturbing, Dishonest, and Unethical

The Arizona Attorney General’s number one job is to be the advocate for all Arizonans.  In some sense, when he was elected, he was retained by the taxpayers to do the job of keeping us safe. In fact, I’m pretty sure suing his own client isn’t in his job description.

Rather, like so many of his fellow Arizona Republicans over the last two decades, he is using his office to serve his cheap political ambitions.

Indeed, instead of protecting our democratic institutions, he is buying into the “Big Lie” by trying to overthrow the authority of the Secretary of State, Katie Hobbs. Instead of working to keep Arizonans safe, he’s running for the Trump nomination to US Senate. Instead of working to protect our seniors from consumer scams, he’s playing with nunchucks on YouTube.

Let me be clear: Mark Brnovich’s actions weres disturbing, dishonest and unethical. In the end, he’s proven that he is more the Attorney General for the Republican Party than the people of Arizona who pay his salary.

And the Board of Regents bar complaint against Brnovich isn’t the first one. Secretary of State Hobbs filed a bar complaint against him for sabotaging election related cases and misrepresenting her office.

As Arizona’s next Attorney General, my job is to serve the people of Arizona regardless of personal politics. The fact is ANY attorney who understands the ethical component of their job knows this.

Well, any attorney that is save for Mark Brnovich.

But this has been the Republican Party that has run Arizona into the ground for the last three decades. When a group of lawyers and I fought against the brutality of Joe Arpaio and Andrew Thomas, nearly every Republican in elected office stayed silent and complicit.

These same Republicans willingly allowed Arpaio and Thomas to subvert the rule of law if it served their own cheap political ambitions. They chose to look the other way when young Latino and African-Americans had their basic civil rights ripped away. As Arizona’s next Attorney General, I will not allow politics of any kind to replace the rule of law.

More importantly, as Arizona’s next Attorney General, no officeholder will be allowed to use the law to subvert our institutions to play political grifter games.

As Arizona’s next Attorney General, I will do everything within my power to protect the reproductive freedoms of women and will NOT prosecute her or her doctor exercising those freedoms: full stop.

As Arizona’s next Attorney General, I will keep Arizonans safe from crime, especially our most vulnerable populations.

Finally, in the end, a good lawyer does not put politics over his ethical duties. That’s why I fought Joe Arpaio and why I also wrote the bar complaint against Trumps lawyers attempting to overthrow our fair and free elections.

As Arizona’s next Attorney General, my most important job will be to be the best lawyer for every Arizonan, regardless of ZIP Code or privilege.
