With cases of the Delta Variant of the Coronavirus still surging, Tucson Unified School District, Phoenix Elementary School District, Roosevelt Elementary School District, and Osborn Elementary Schools have all adopted district-wide mask mandates for students, staff, and visitors.
Washington Elementary in Phoenix decided to do this afternoon (August 4, 2021.) So did Creighton Elementary.
Brophy College Prep, a private school where Governor Ducey’s children attended, is requiring that every child, teacher, and staff member will need to have proof of COVID 19 vaccination by September 13, 2021.
Hopefully, more districts will follow suit.
According to reporting from Tuscon.com, Vail Unified, which opened two weeks ago without a mask mandate, has reported 57 COVID 19 cases in the student population and 12 among its staff.
The Chandler Unified District in the East Valley of Maricopa County also opened two weeks ago without a mask mandate. It has a confirmed 103 Coronavirus cases among its student body and staff.
According to reporting by Laurie Roberts at AZ Central, the 280 pupils enrolled in K-12 Ash Fork Unified School District, thanks to 40 staff and 132 student COVID cases, have had to close all three of their school sites.
Would school districts like Vail, Chandler, and Ash Fork have had fewer Coronavirus cases if Governor Doug Ducey and the Know Nothing-Science Denying members of his political party did not forbid schools from mandating masks?
Very probably.
Would these school districts have fewer COVID 19 numbers if the far right had not spread disinformation on Coronavirus vaccinations?
Very likely.
There are actually people from the former Party of Lincoln who are now equating getting a Coronavirus vaccination with the “Mark of the Beast” (That is right. The Anti Christ.)
Do not subscribe to the arguments made by this far-right lunatic fringe group. Doing so threatens your health along with your family and friends.
On Thursday, August 5, 2021, according to a press release by Save Our Schools Arizona, a group of physicians and family care doctors will deliver a letter signed by 150 doctors to Governor Ducey asking him to institute a statewide mask mandate for the Grand Canyon State’s schools.
In the school districts that have recommended or mandated that students, staff, and visitors wear masks, please do so.
Also, please get vaccinated.
