Nancy Pelosi Gets The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol That She Wanted

Update to Nancy Pelosi Must Nix Three Seditious Co-Conspirators From The House Select Committee To Investigate The January 6th Attack On The U.S. Capitol.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used her veto power over Traitor Kevin McCarthy’s bad faith nominations to the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol to nix two of the three co-conspirators who provided aid and comfort to the violent insurrectionists on January 6.

Traitor McCarthy then clutched his pearls and threw a hissy fit for the media, pulling all five of his nominees to the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Well played, Nancy, well played. You got Traitor McCarthy to do the dirty work for you. And you still have a bipartisan committee with Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY). Nancy Pelosi got the committee she wanted without the MAGA/QAnon clown show that McCarthy wanted.

Politico reports, Pelosi vetoes Banks, Jordan for Jan. 6 select committee:

Speaker Nancy Pelosi stunned the GOP on Wednesday by vetoing two of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s choices for a select panel investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

Pelosi rejected Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.), who was tapped to serve as ranking member, and Rep. “Gym” Jordan (R-Ohio), both of whom voted to challenge certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral wins earlier this year.

“I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee,” Pelosi said in a statement. “The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision.”

Another Republican, freshman Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas), also voted not to certify Biden’s win, but Pelosi said she is “prepared to appoint” Nehls as well as Reps. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) and Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.), both of whom voted to certify the election.

Traitor McCarthy, who also voted to challenge certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral wins earlier this year, and has been “Orange Julius” Caesar’s loyal lap dog ever since, then attempted to delegitimize the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol, at least for the propagandists in the conservative media entertainment complex, by pulling all five of his nominees during a hissy fit for the news media.

CNN reports, McCarthy pulls his 5 GOP members from 1/6 committee after Pelosi rejects 2 of his picks (excerpt):

Traitor McCarthy slammed the move shortly after it was announced Wednesday.

“Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts,” McCarthy said.

At a news conference Wednesday, McCarthy accused Pelosi of an “egregious abuse of power.”

“Pelosi has broken this institution,” he said.

That’s rich. It is Traitor Kevin McCarthy and 138 other GQP members of the House who have “broken this institution” by providing aid and comfort to Donald Trump’s MAGA/QAnon seditious insurrectionsts on January 6. They are complicit, and can be charged, and “fined or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.” 18 U.S. Code § 2383. The 147 Republican lawmakers who still objected to the election results even after the Capitol attack.

In typical Washington media villager reporting, CNN simply parrots the GQP talking points:

Still, Pelosi’s move gives House Republicans an avenue to attack the select committee as a partisan endeavor. McCarthy slammed the move shortly after it was announced Wednesday.

Pelosi’s decision to reject the two Republicans — and McCarthy’s response to pull the rest his members — injected new fuel into the partisan fight over the select committee that’s been raging since Democrats created the panel last month to investigate the circumstances surrounding the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Sorry media villagers, it was Traitor McCarthy’s bad faith selection of five Trump sycophants, and his hissy fit news conference today that “injected new fuel into the partisan fight.” One could reasonably argue that Traitor McCarthy is continuing the slow-motion seditious insurrection, and attempting to obstruct justice with a coverup. Traitor McCarthy should be the first witness subpoena issued by the committee.

The media villagers continue:

One senior GOP source argued that Pelosi’s move was a “gift” to Republicans because they never wanted to take part and, if they were on the committee, would be forced to confront complicated questions over Trump’s role in January 6.

Back to reality:

But the lack of Republicans appointed by McCarthy on the panel means there will no longer be allies of Trump when the committee holds high-profile hearings on the January 6 attack. Next week’s hearing with four officers on the frontlines of January 6 is not being delayed, spokesman Drew Hammill told CNN.

Democrats on the select committee defended Pelosi’s decision, saying McCarthy could still appoint members who would take the investigation seriously. Rep. Jamie Raskin, a select committee member, pulled up to reporters the statement that Banks released Monday after McCarthy named him to the panel, which said that the committee was created “solely to malign conservatives and justify the left’s authoritarian agenda.”

“The speaker is making clear we’re going to have a serious comprehensive investigation. This will not be just another run-of-the-mill, partisan food fight,” Raskin said.

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, a California Democrat and another select committee member, said Banks and Jordan “were clearly selected just to be disruptive, and that’s not acceptable.”

The one Republican on the committee, appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, ripped Kevin McCarthy for his bad faith. ‘Despicable’: Liz Cheney blasts move to pull fellow Republicans from Capitol attack committee:

Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney did not hold back on her colleagues today, as she blasted House minority leader Kevin McCarthy and his decision to remove all the Republicans that he appointed to the House select committee tasked with investigating the 6 January attack on the US Capitol.

She pointed out that one of the two Republican appointees that House speaker Nancy Pelosi rejected – Jim Banks and “Gym” Jordan – “may well be a material witness to events that led to” the attack. [A conflict of interest.]

What Cheney is referencing: Liz Cheney Reportedly Tore Into Jim Jordan At The Capitol On Jan. 6:

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) reportedly called out Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to his face on Jan. 6 as the insurrection unfolded and lawmakers were forced to flee as supporters of then-President Donald Trump attacked the U.S. Capitol.

“You fucking did this,” she told him, according to an upcoming book, “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year,” by Washington Post reporters Carol D. Leonnig and Philip Rucker.

In it, Gen. Mark Milley ― who is chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ― recounted a conversation with Cheney the day after the insurrection.

That fucking guy Jim Jordan. That son of a bitch.… While these maniacs are going through the place, I’m standing in the aisle and he said ‘We need to get the ladies away from the aisle. Let me help you.’ I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You fucking did this.’”

Cheney called Traitor McCarthy’s rhetoric “disgraceful.” Cheney also took a moment to question McCarthy’s ability to lead the House.

Cheney accused McCarthy of trying to “prevent” Americans from knowing the truth of how the Capitol attack occurred.

“The American people deserve to know what happened. The people who did this must be held accountable, it must be an investigation that is sober and gets to the facts,” she said, adding that, however “at every turn the minority leader has tried to get the people not to know what happened.”

Cheney then said: “This investigation must go forward. The idea that anybody would be playing politics with an attack on the United States Capitol is despicable and disgraceful.”

We now have a serious House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol which can conduct a serious investigation, without Sedition Caucus co-conspirators leaking information to the media or to Donald Trump, and without the shitshow antics of Rep. “Gym” Jordan (R-Ohio).

  1. I kind of wish Pelosi had said, “I believe that the statements by Jordan and Banks amounted to letters of resignation and I accept them as that.”
