Gabby Giffords Won’t Back Down is an 2022 American documentary film, directed and produced by Julie Cohen and Betsy West. It follows Gabrielle Giffords as she recovers from the 2011 shooting.”

Gabby served for 5 years in the U.S. House, and prior to that one term each in the Arizona House and Senate. As most of you know she was shot in the head/almost assassinated in Tucson outside the Safeway supermarket on Oracle/Ina Rd. on January 8, 2011 at her Congress on the Corner constituent event.  19 innocent people were shot that day and 6 died at that Tucson mass shooting, including her Congressional aide Gabe Zimmerman, whom many of us also knew.

The documentary chronicles her rise to fame as a young Congresswoman, her marriage to divorced astronaut Mark Kelly, who is now the junior U.S Senator from Arizona. He was elected in Nov. 2020 in a special election and is  currently  running for re-election to a full 6 year term.

Watch the official trailer above, see the inspiring movie on or after July 15, and continue to support both Gabby and Mark in their efforts to curb gun violence in America.  Gabby is an extremely strong & resilient woman, and indeed, won’t back down.

  1. The Loft Cinema has announced 2 preview screenings on July 13 and 14, at 7:15 p.m. Refer to our events calendar, but the film opens on July 15 for its run of at least 2 weeks. Wonder if Gabby & Mark will attend the previews as they live in Tucson?
