Nikki Haley Steps in It Again, Saying the United States Has “Never Been a Racist Country”

So many Republican Presidential Candidates.

So little time to report on all their gaffes.

This time it is former South Carolina Governor and Trump United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley who, only weeks after failing to cite slavery as a major cause for the American Civil War, said in response to a question from a Fox Reporter on if the Republican Party was a racist party that:

“We’re not a racist country Brian. We’ve never been a racist country. Our goal is to make sure today is better than yesterday…Are we perfect? No…I faced racism when I was growing up but I can tell you, today is a lot better than it was then.”

This is not new for Haley. She made similar comments at the 2020 Republican Convention.

It is really breathtaking and depressing how many out-of-touch and historically illiterate leaders are in the current vintage of the Trump-MAGA Republican Party.

Maybe their continued whitewashing (literally) of United States History has something to do with it.

Given her earlier posturing on the causes of the Civil War, it should not be surprising that Ms. Haley makes comments like these to make herself acceptable to the Republican base.

She apparently has not paid attention to the rise of hate crimes towards Muslims and Jews since Donald ‘I was endorsed twice by David Duke’ Trump came on the national stage.

She also does not appear to be well-versed in the nation’s history.

If the United States did not have racist tendencies in its history, why did the Constitution have to be amended to allow Blacks, Indians, Latinos, Women, and Non-Property owners the right to vote?

If the United States did not have racist tendencies in its history, how could the Ku Klux Klan have become popular after the Civil War? How could Jim Crow Laws have found popularity in the South?

If the United States did not have racist tendencies, why are historians and archeologists digging up the bodies of abused Indian children who were subjected to criminal treatment at nationally approved boarding schools?

If the United States did not have racist tendencies, why were innocent Japanese American Citizens taken from their homes and hauled off to Internship Camps following Pearl Harbor when German and Italian members of society did not receive the same level of discrimination?

If the United States did not have racist tendencies, why did the United States Congress at the beginning of the Twentieth Century impose immigration quotas on people from Southern and Eastern Europe and Asia to the point of denying Jews entry into the country during the zenith of Hitler’s power?

This article could continue citing historical examples of the nation’s racist tendencies.

To be fair, Haley is right. Race relations are better than it was in the past but to say the country is not and has never been racist is outrageous.

Her position is at best ignorant; at worst, especially given her own recounting of experiencing racism, a lie to secure political favor from a white supremacist fringe that does not deserve catering to.

Nikki Haley, like Mr. Trump and Mr. DeSantis, has proven again she is not worthy to occupy the Oval Office in January 2025.

Voters need to file these latest comments in the back of their heads and remember it this November if she becomes the Republican Presidential Nominee.

It is also reasonable to conclude that the Biden/Harris Campaign will make sure voters do not forget either.

  1. Hear her referred to as a “coconut,” brown on the outside, white on the inside. Never heard that pejorative before. I need to get up with the latest insults.

  2. When I get a sec I’ll introduce Nimarata to my parents, sister and brother, their families, and a goodly chunk of my old white friends.

Time allowing, I’ll take her on the rounds of a few of my old employers, teachers, and the odd tow truck driver.

And if there’s that unsubtle whiff of a dairy farm in the air so I know he’s nearby, I’ll grab a coffee with Nimarata and John Government Checks Kavanagh, Falcon9, Tom Horne, and the ghost of Russell Pearce.

FFS, she even says her parents dealt with racism in her 2020 speech. Lordy she’s a loser.

And I use Nimarata, her actual name, the same way Fox News uses Barrack Hussein.

What the heck, I’ll spring for her to attend a NASCAR race in any southern track, where she’ll be able to purchase t-shirts from vendors outside the track depicting lynching’s in a favorable way.

Or just take her to a MAGAt rally and let her mingle.

Maybe show her some old black and white film of George Wallace’s famous segregation today, tomorrow speech. Or the FBI files for MLK.

If that doesn’t convince her, I’ll help her pick out a hoodie and send her driving around east LA in an old Chevy.

JFC, I’m a pretty open minded person, but even I have to fight off my inner voice, the one trained by grandparents and a million TV show’s and movies to distrust anyone not white, and I know better.

It’s in the fabric of America.

OMG, I can’t shut my brain off on this, maybe I can get someone to embroider some of John Wayne’s favorite sayings for her to hang in her home office.

Because she’s never getting elected office again, inshallah.

What an insanely stupid thing for Nimarata to say. She’s been in the public eye for a decade or so and I could not name one thing she stands for.

    Useless, intentional idiot.

    • Being dumb as a brick, not knowing the history of your own country, and speaking mostly nonsense does not affect GOP voters who really don’t care.

The GOP has long ago lost interest in governance and stands for nothing other than white supremacy and white, conservative concentration of wealth and power.

Nikki gets one thing right and that is that racists don’t like being told they are racist.

What Nikki gets wrong is that she could possibly overcome the racism and misogyny that defines the GOP voter base. God knows why she thought she had a shot, that she could promote herself as the youthful alternative to the unwanted Trump/Biden rematch. Despite her fervent pandering, the racists see the racial other, a woman no less, and they don’t want her in the WH.

      • GQP history is whatever Fox News says it is, same for current events.

It doesn’t have to be true, just to sound true to people who want it to be true.

Nimarata reminds me of the folks we saw during T4ump’s term, where some misguided soul who voted for the Fetid Fascist only to find out their spouse was being deported.

“I thought he meant those other brown skinned folks, now my kids have no mom”.

        Sucks to suck.

The DACA “kids” are still in limbo. F*ck that pisses me off. Ronald Reagan cared more about immigrants than our current leadership.

Yeah, I know, Biden gave it a shot. How about another try, peepaw? Oh, election year, never mind!

America is not a racist country. Wow, what an insane thing to say. And Nimarata is from a slave state, the first to vote to succeed from the Union.

F’ her lying ass. She pulled the rebel flag from the SC capitol. She’s not that stupid but she seems to think everyone else is.

If the Pantsloaded Rapist gets back into the White House, I hope Stephen Miller deports her first.

        GD racism pisses me off.
