John Munger recently dropped out of the GOP nomination race for Governor. His slogan was "Real Leadership. No Excuses."
It was on his website, his lit, his media, his billboards. You get the idea that maybe he means it. And yet when he decides to throw in the towel, he puts this on his website to explain his exit…
Really? Matching funds present an "insurmountable obstacle to my campaign for Governor"? He was gambling his entire bid for Governor on a reckless and poorly-founded decision by a single 9th Circuit judge, hoping that even though that decision was unanimously overruled by a full panel, it would be upheld by the Supreme Court? That certainly sounds like an excuse, rather than an honest explanation of why he left the race.
How about "I never polled out of single digits, I have a funny name, and nobody takes me seriously"? Now that would be no excuses.
