I wrote recently about my donation to the Northeast Arizona Native Democrats encouraging you to do the same, and now I have gotten a followup email that is a good model of how to communicate to established donors for anyone trying to raise political money.
I share it here with you both as a model, and as an additional appeal to consider becoming a donor yourself:
Thank you for supporting our Program!
The entire Northeast Arizona Native Democrats team wants to thank you for contributing to our success in 2023. We were only able to accomplish our goals because of you and your generosity.
In 2023 with four organizers on the ground this year we:
• made over 130,000 direct voter contacts
• registered over 150 young and new voters on three sovereign nations
• assisted over 1000 voters get their voter registration up to date
• recruited 286 Family Votes matriarchs and hosted eight in person Family Votes Luncheons
• launched our Youth Votes program
• hosted over a dozen in person voter registration tune up events
• educated over 150 volunteers on relational organizing basics
• launched the Hopi Listening Tour with more stops planned in 2024
• had active high traffic and door to door canvassing programs
• delivered winter mutual aid in the form of emergency supply kits, coal, wood and water
• delivered over 300 backpacks with school supplies to children on three sovereign nations
• advocated for voting rights as the Republican party attempted to rewrite local voting rules in Navajo County. These Build Year efforts put our team right where we need to be to kick off the election year. Our team is committed to delivering Arizona’s 11 electoral votes to Joe Biden and the work we did in 2023 is a solid foundation for this effort.
Our focus on relational organizing empowers family and community leaders to build a winning electorate that will defend democracy. Our team continues to educate voters on how to check that their voter registration is up to date, how to vote by mail, how to secure the documents needed to vote in person, and how to help family and community members do the same. Through our relational organizing education, we reached voters in very rural and remote communities and do the work of dismantling systemic barriers to the pollsIn 2024, we plan to pick up the pace, add more local organizers, and continue to innovate how we reach voters who are difficult to reach. Since our program’s inception in 2019, we have steadily built the electorate to continue the growth of voter turnout. Northeast Arizona Native Democrats must reach further out into communities, engage more volunteer relational organizers and of course, log many more miles on our vehicles. • In 2024 our program goals include:
• hire up to 25 full and part time organizers
• 250,000 voter contacts
• weekly trainings for our Family Votes Matriarchs
• twice monthly youth ambassador trainings
• 12 times monthly high traffic canvassing
• weekly voter registration tune-ups
• continuing our Hopi Listening Tour
• assisting voters in getting the appropriate ID to vote in person
•a 13 stop tour on Navajo, Hopi and White Mountain Apache to visit smaller communities
• continued phonebanking
• mutual aid and community service
• launching a new counter- disinformation campaign
• and more!
This program’s success comes directly from your generosity. Without you, we wouldn’t be here. Today we’re looking to increase voter turnout in 2024 by 3 points more than in 2020, we are working toward a 74% voter turnout in sovereign lands. 2020 was a high water mark and our deeply embedded, highly skilled field organizers have been building toward this election for the last four years. We know that we have the capacity to turn out more voters year in and year out by digging deeper into communities, leaning into relational organizing, and we can do this very difficult work with your support.
With your faith in and support of our program, we can deliver Arizona’s 11 electoral votes to Joe Biden. We can elect Ruben Gallego as a second Democratic Senator from Arizona. We are going to bring the fight to Republicans in Arizona’s CD2 and work to elect former Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez to Congress. The Northeast Arizona Native Democrats are committed to winning these critical federal races for all of us. We are also laser-focused on winning races closer to home where we need to elect highly skilled Democrats to offices that impact our communities and constituents’ lives daily. We’re working to reelect Dawnafe Whitesinger in what is potentially the most important Board of Supervisors seat in the state. This race will decide whether or not voters on sovereign lands in Navajo County have equal access to the polls. We have County Recorders, Sheriffs, Treasurers and School Superintendents whose offices impact our lives daily. These races are every bit as important to the folks on the ground in Northeast Arizona as the Presidential Election for Joe Biden. The Northeast Arizona Native Democrats will be working to protect sovereignty at the county and national levels. Our team understands what’s at stake and is committed to the voter education work that builds an electorate that shows up year after year after year.
The Northeast Arizona Native Democrats team wants to thank you again for all that you did to make 2023 a successful year for our team. We look forward to working with you in 2024.
