NRSC ad buy: ‘Save the Flake’

The bedwetters at the National Republican Senatorial Committee are so worried that the billionaire hedge fund owners of Club for Growth and the billionaire bastard Koch brothers' front group Freedom Works are not enough to get the job done to save Rep. Jeff Flake from impending defeat that the NRSC is making an ad buy in the Phoenix market to "Save the Flake."

Politico reports NRSC going up in Arizona:

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is going on the air in the Arizona Senate race, playing defense in a state the GOP did not expect to be competitive this cycle, three sources tell me.

The NRSC will run ads in the Phoenix market starting tomorrow and running through Oct. 11, the sources said. The ads follow the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s decision to launch its first Arizona TV offensive this week.

Republicans say they still feel optimistic about the contest between GOP Rep. Jeff Flake and Democratic former Surgeon General Richard Carmona, but Flake is getting outspent on the air and recent polls have shown a tight race. A Public Policy Polling survey published yesterday actually found Carmona ahead by 2 points, 45 percent to 43 percent.

Republicans no longer believe they can take the race for granted and the Democrats’ sense of opportunity has become very real.
