Domestic Violence Awareness Month is held each October in the U.S. Lots of events are coming up to raise awareness and to work to preventing domestic abuse, and assisting victims/survivors.
“On Saturday, October 2, the annual Mighty Mujer Triathlon will take place in Oro Valley! This event is an all-women race that started in 2010 in El Paso and has empowered athletes and advocated against domestic violence ever since. This year, triathletes who help raise $500 for Emerge will receive a refund on their registration fee. Click here to learn more. ”

Wear Purple Day is on October 21, so get out your purple clothing to participate in Pima County. I usually wear a long sleeved purple tshirt and sometimes show up at Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse (2545 E. Adams St., just east of Tucson Blvd.) for a photo, to post online. Don’t forget to tag them at @EmergeTucson or send your pic to communications@emergecenter.org.
