Check out the nut graph paragraph from this AP (all propaganda) story GOP gains House seat from Hawaii:
HONOLULU – Republicans scored a midterm election victory Saturday when Honolulu City Councilman Charles Djou won a Democratic-held House seat in Hawaii in the district where President Barack Obama grew up – the latest triumph for the GOP as it looks to take back control of Congress.
The "latest triumph"? Until this special congressional election in Hawaii, the Republicans have been shut out in special elections to fill congressional seats. This is the only win. And it was made possible only because two Democrats were on the ballot and split the vote:
Djou received 67,274 votes, or 39.5 percent. He was trailed by state Senate President Colleen Hanabusa, a Democrat who received 52,445 votes, or 30.8 percent. The other leading Democrat, former U.S. Rep. Ed Case, received 47,012 votes, or 27.6 percent.
The victory will be short-lived. "Djou will serve only through the remainder of 2010. Another election will be held in November for the next term."
One win in an odd special congressional race does not establish a trend and signifies nothing where this seat is likely to revert to the Democratic candidate in November. But the AP is sticking with the pre-conceived media narrative for the 2010 election that simply repeats the GOP wishful thinking talking points. Journalism this isn't.
