One Big Beautiful Bill Act and You – Tax Edition

Amazon saved 87% on taxes this year thanks to Juan Ciscomani’s support for OBBBA. Meanwhile, his constituents can’t afford health care thanks to the same bill.

Juan Ciscomani is proud to support the small business community. At least that’s what he says. He happily voted for the One Bill Beautiful Bill Act and told anyone who would listen how the bill would benefit small businesses in Arizona.  Anyone believing him would thus expect tax breaks for small businesses in this bill  and that Schedule 3, the tax form used for additional tax credits and payments, would now accommodate all of them. We, however, read the actual bill and we weren’t confident in Ciscomani’s claims about the benefits to small businesses.  Section after section of the OBBBA revealed numerous tax breaks that would benefit only large companies.  This is what we wrote about this back in August 2025:

  • Small businesses won’t take advantage of retroactive R&D expense deduction.
  • Business that have electric or hybrid vehicles will pay higher registration fees.
  • Small business owners with health insurance purchased through ACA will face more barriers to enrollment and doubling of premiums due to expiration of federal premium support.
  • Due to rising public debt, the borrowing rates will go up.  A small business that needs a loan will pay more for it and it might not qualify for a loan.
  • Business expense deduction will rise from 20% to 23% of business income, but this rise will not offset higher costs in other areas.
  • It will be harder to qualify as a small business by the gross receipts test. The qualification will be based on 5 tax years, instead of 3 tax years.

It’s tax season now.  We are all busy ensuring we have all our important documents and receipts. Many of us are hoping for a tax refund; a few hundred dollars would surely help in this economy. Unfortunately, the most recent corporate tax data tells us that we read the One Big Beautiful Bill Act correctly. We won’t be holding our breath for more money this year, and we advise our readers not to hold theirs either.

Yahoo Finance recently reported that Amazon, Meta, and Alphabet saved billions on taxes this year, thanks to the OBBBA. The table below shows how much the bill helped Big Tech:

There is more. All three companies reported rising profits in 2025 vs 2024: 40% higher for Amazon, 20% for Meta, and 32% for Alphabet.

If you didn’t save 87%, or even 35%, on taxes this year while increasing your profits, you might be getting angry now. Our Congressional representative swore that we would benefit come tax season. Instead, Big Tech is getting billions of our funds while we don’t even get crumbs. To put it another way, the companies that actively contribute to the government effort to build a total citizen surveillance system saved $21.9 billion. That figure is two-thirds of what would support ACA premiums for one year. Seems clear:  they want to track everything we do, record our thoughts, and control our behavior, all while depriving us of our healthcare.

Ciscomani doesn’t care for us, our families, or our small businesses. It’s time to let him know that his OBBBA support is making us sicker and poorer. Let’s put our anger to good use and make that clear to him.
