Our Democratic LD18 Legislative Team Launches Reelection Campaign

Here in Tucson, the mighty LD18 (D+20) team of state legislators, Sen. Priya Sundareshan, Reps. Chris Mathis and Nancy Gutierrez launched their 2024 reelection campaign from Ft. Lowell Park in the heart of the district. They are running as a slate (you can make donations to the entire team here) and I haven’t heard any word of any primary challengers to the incumbents. No surprise, as all three have turned out to be stellar legislators.

Rep. Guttierrez was elected by her peers to caucus leadership as our Whip, and Sen. Sundareshan was selected to co-chair the ADLCC, which coordinates our efforts to capture more state legislative seats, and thus control of the House and Senate chambers. When women run, women win; and when women win, women lead!

They gave the crowd a rallying speech together.

We also have new Democratic challengers for LD17, one of whom, Kevin Volk, was on hand to wish the slate well and to meet the activists of LD 18 who might help with the coming campaign to unseat the Republicans now representing LD17 so poorly.

Rex Scott, our Pima County Supervisor for District 1 – the swing district on the Pima Board – was also on hand as he builds momentum for his own reelection campaign.

If you live in LD18, you can support our team by signing their nomination petitions online at the Secretary of State’s E-Qual system, and by donating early and often to their campaign slate. The best way to ensure they have the resouces they need is a sustaining monthly donation to the team.

I challenge all readers to match or exceed my own $18 per month donation! Leave a comment if you do so, encouraging others to meet your generous act.
