Over time this will offer pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians an enhanced historical and cultural experience when traveling along the Santa Cruz. Following the release of water into the river, a traditional procession with the antique statue of San Juan Bautista will begin at 6PM outside the Mission Gardens. Prayers from several cultural traditions will be offered. The procession will go through Barrio Sin Nombre before arriving at the Mercado San Agustin Annex. The procession will travel onto the Annex where the Fiesta will go into full swing at 7PM. There will be entertainment, live music, piñatas, local food and crafts vendors, family activities and more. In keeping with the theme of the monsoon season and renewal, free water will be provided by Tucson Water to all Fiesta attendees. This year’s event is organized by El Dia De San Juan Coalition and facilitated by the offices of Councilor Regina Romero and Chairman Richard Elias. Parking is available in the lot directly in front of and behind the Mercado. The event will also be accessible by SunLink Streetcar at the two Mercado San Agustin stops. To find out how to support this unique Westside event, contact Liza Grant or Nathalia Untiveros by sending an inquiry to Ward1@tucsonaz.gov.
