In a Sunday statement issued by the White House, President Obama said he will observe a moment of silence for the Arizona shooting victims on Monday morning at 11 a.m. Eastern with his staff on the White House South Lawn to "honor the innocent victims of the senseless tragedy in Tucson, Arizona, including those still fighting for their lives." Obama calls for national moment of silence for Tucson victims:
"It will be a time for us to come together as a nation in prayer or reflection, keeping the victims and their families closely at heart," he said in the statement.
Obama signed a proclamation on Sunday calling for flags to be flown at half-staff.
