President Obama made brief remarks to reporters in the White House Briefing Room, following the AARP and AMA's endorsements of the health care reform bill. Obama: AARP's Support On Health Care Is 'No Small Endorsement':
Obama first thanked the AARP, whose support he called "no small endorsement." He continued: "They are endorsing this bill because they know it will strengthen Medicare, not jeopardize it. They know it will protect the benefits our seniors receive, not cut them."
Obama went on to address the AMA's support:
The same is true for the doctors and medical professionals who are supporting this bill today. These are men and women who know our health care system best, and have been watching this debate closely. They would not be supporting it if they really believed hat it would lead to government bureaucrats making decisions that are best left to doctors. They would not be with us if they believed that reform would in any way damage the critical and sacred doctor-patient relationship. Instead, they are supporting reform because they've seen firsthand what is broken about our health care system.
The President concluded: "We are closer to passing this reform than ever before, and now that doctors and medical professionals of America are standing with us, now that the organizations charged with looking out for the interests of seniors are standing with us, we are even closer."
The House has scheduled votes on the health care reform bill for this Saturday.
Meanwhile, at the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue today, wild-eyed moonbat Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is hosting yet another Tea Party temper-tantrum heavily promoted on FAUX News – the storming of the Hill! The Storming Of The Hill Begins
I am sure this will be the only "newsworthy" event reported on FAUX News today with wall-to-wall coverage. Reality check: the few thousand teabaggers "storming" congressional offices today are no greater in number than the number of lobbyists and constituents who visit congressional offices every day of the week. Get over yourselves already.
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) made it clear to the thousands gathered at the base of the Capitol in what some billed as a smaller reunion of Glenn Beck's 9/12 rallies: "Be assured not one Republican will vote for this bill," Cantor said, to big cheers and shouts of "Kill the bill!" Cantor Promises Tea Partiers: 'Not One' GOP Vote For Health Care Well, no shit Sherlock. I'm glad you cleared that up.
Just how out of touch are Republicans? They have got to get outside of the "alternate reality" of their conservative news bubble more often.

No worries, teabaggers. Government is only bad when a Republican who doesn’t believe in government is running the government.
The current president believes in the common good. That has been missing from the public agenda for some time.
The notion that a first world country should NOT provide healthcare to its people is the anathema.
No one vote from a Republican? No surprise. They are usually standing in the way of progress.
Your reality check is in actually a very good reason for people to be alarmed at the excessive amount of power that the federal government already exercises. If voters are only 1/20th of the contacts with only 1/20th the influence of the lobbyists then taxpayers are already slaves to those who benefit from government spending and regulation.
