It is done.
With a record number of valid signatures (577,971) for any ballot initiative, Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes certified the placement of Proposition 139-The Right to Abortion Initiative on the November ballot.
Calling this an example of “the purest form of Democracy where people get to make their own laws,” Fonte’s certification will allow the people to decide, if lawsuits against the measure fail, at the ballot box if reproductive freedom should be protected in the Grand Canyon state.
Proposition 139 should also be a boon for Democratic candidates up and down the November ballot since, unlike the MAGA Republicans, that party has consistently voiced its support for protecting reproductive freedom and women’s health care.
In a state where the margins can be razor thin in the Presidential, Senate, and battleground Congressional/Legislative Districts, every little bit will help.
