Every single Democrat running for state office should immediately and whole-heartedly endorse the people’s veto, and promote ‘NO on 307’!
Secretary of State Katie Hobbs haw certified that the Invest in Education’s Referendum of SB 1828 has qualified for the ballot as Prop 307 on the 2022 ballot.
You will recall that Arizona voters passed Prop 208 sponsored by InvestinED in the 2020 election. First, the AZGOP sought to sue Prop 208 out of existence. Failing that, in the subsequent 2021 session, the #AZGOP majority spit in those voters’ faces by passing a flat tax and cap in SB 1828 that would essentially nullify the voters’ will, which we expressed quite clearly at the ballot box by passing Prop 208.
Well, now we have a chance to fight back, and tell the GOP-controlled Lege that we veto their attempt to stymie our sovereign will.
We, the people, rule supreme in Arizona, not the State Legislature – and certainly not the #AZGOP. We also have the chance, if the GOP fails in its current efforts to gerrymander our state legislative districts, to throw the bums out and elect Democratic state legislative majorities that will do what the people of Arizona want: fully and fairly fund public education, and get Arizona out of the pitiful position of 51st in the nation for per-pupil funding of education, where the #AZGOP has misled us over the past several decades in power.
Enough is enough. The arrogant and complacent AZGOP has abused our children by chronically underfunding education long enough. Let’s fight back: vote NO! on Prop 307 to veto their attempt to overturn the will of Arizona’s sovereign citizenry, and throw the bums out of the majority in the state legislature so they can never do that to us again!
