H/t to Greg Sargent at the Washington Post's Plum Line for these news items I do not have time this holiday weekend to go into in depth:
* The White House Council of Economic Advisers released a report on Friday finding that the stimulus hiked GDP by as much as 3.2 percent in the first quarter of 2011 and added up to 3.6 million jobs. [The stimulus did work].
* Hedge fund Barton Biggs says we need a massive infusion of government stimulus spending to save the economy. (WSJ)
* Bruce Bartlett has the most extensive rundown I’ve ever seen of all this year’s polling on what Americans really think about tax increases [they overwhelmingly support raising taxes on the wealthy].
* Chuck Schumer to fellow Senate Dems: Forget about the Constitutional/nuclear option on the debt ceiling [14th Amendment], it’s not gonna happen this time.
* Ezra Klein: We don’t really have a deficit problem. We have a Congress problem.
