Carolyn’s note:  Well, finally something positive to report on.  Let’s try doing some random acts of kindness to strangers, or even people we know on Feb. 17.  Or anytime during the week of Feb. 13 to 19, which includes Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14.  Be kind, do kind things to others.
Examples:  parallel park your car carefully & give more space to others; pay someone’s almost expired parking meter; buy a  packaged snack & randomly give it to someone, open the door for an elderly person, send someone a get well card, etc. etc. Be creative this week. Have fun in being kind, and committing random acts of kindness.

  1. Final day 7 of Random Acts of Kindness Week. Dropped off two brand new curtain rods at Really Free Market to give to someone else who needed them more than us. And served German stollen (fruit cake) to the attendees. We felt kind today, which is a good way to end this week. Practice kindness, make kindness contagious.

  2. Day 6 of Random Act of Kindness week. Beginning to look for ways to be nice to people, esp. strangers. Offered coins today to a woman who was paying in all coins at the check out counter, in case she needed more. Then thanked the clerk for taking all her loose change, no bills at all, for all his trouble in counting her money. Then praised the USPS carrier for bringing us our mail, as suggested by another Kindness website. 1 day left to do these acts tomorrow.

  3. It’s Random Acts of Kindness Day and day 5 of the Week. Only thing I did today was let a car in from the middle lane who was trying to turn right in front of me as I yielded into the right lane. It was a bit dangerous, but I hope I prevented an accident. Will be lookilng for other ways to be kind today, tonight at an art reception.

  4. Day 4 of Random Acts of Kindness week. Despite the blustering cold, I went out to pick up trash and found glass shards behind our house in the alley, so I picked them up. But I’ll look for other ways to do random kindness today. Drove by two little free libraries with their doors open, so stopped by both and closed them, to protect the books from the rain/wind.

  5. Day 3: Spreading kindness can be a norm. This morning I found 2 live crickets in our kitchen sink, so instead of squashing them or washing them down the drain, I took our German handheld catcher and trapped them and released them outdoors. Kindness to all living things, including animals counts this week. Maybe I’ll try to be kind today to some human beings.

  6. Day 2 of Random Acts of Kindness Week: took two snacks to my Mah Jong Mondays group at Ward 6 Council office. Also helped 2 people there who were dropping off a donation, and looking for a misplaced article. Enjoy your day and be kind.

  7. Day 1 of Random Acts of Kindness Week. My husband and I discovered the Art Alley (south of the intersection of E. 13th St. x Vine Ave.), walking to the east in that alley. We enjoyed seeing the diverse, local art and some world reprints, plus sculptures and art activity tables for kids. So I straightened up several hanging pieces and fixed others…as my random acts of kindness today. Join me this week as I post on FB and under comments here.
