He shook the hands of the Republican Speaker of the House.
He gave an inspiring uniting speech.
He singled out Rosa Parks for her contributions to Civil Rights.
He gave this speech in the middle of his Impeachment Trial in the Senate.
Fast forward twenty-one years and a different President gives a State of the Union during his impeachment trial.
He snubbed the Democratic Speaker of the House by not shaking her hand.
He gave an address full of lies and pandering overtures to his nativist base that live in the Trump Zone on Fox Island.
He saluted fellow divider and birther Rush Limbaugh (who is dying of lung cancer) during his speech, having the First Lady put the Medal of Freedom on him.

Considering the names and contributions made to society by the above recipients and the many others not listed, how can Rush Limbaugh be on the same list as Mother Teresa, Rosa Parks, Helen Keller or Jackie Robinson.
All of these recipients (with the exception of Strom Thurmond who did get one as well) moved society forward in some fashion. These are individuals children should be able to look up to.
Rush Limbaugh has not moved the country forward and he is definitely not a role model for children.
People should not be given the Medal of Freedom because they share the same reactionary backward views as the current White House occupant.
Giving Limbaugh this award is a disgrace.
It further divides the country, gives legitimacy to his and Trumps divisive views, and goes against what the Medal of Freedom is all about.
People should be repulsed.
May The Vulgar Pigboy (h/t Bartcop) suffer a lingeringly long and painful death. Which is mild compared to what he should receive where he should be going.
El Fatso and Gingrich were the parents of the polarized hate speech we have in political life now. It’s not false equivalency. They both gained a lot hating on the Clintons, money and power. And Don the Cons lawyer was the grandfather of hate, Roy Cohn, and the pre-Don, McCarthy.
Well, this is just one bloated fat f**k with a big mouth paying homage to another like himself.
We have lost our values as a nation, when Rush Limbaugh can receive the Medal of Honor. He is a racist and a fascist. To think that my parents came here from Greece in the early 20th century, because this country’s values symbolized freedom and equality for even the poorest, and now we’re honoring racism and fascism, which we fought against shortly afterward.
Let’s add putting Rush Limbaugh on the same list as Aretha Franklin to the long list of Trump’s high crimes and misdemeanors.
Put it at the top.
