Tucson Mayor Regina Romero did not find Governor Doug Ducey’s State of the State unifying or useful in steering policy to combat COVID 19 and rebuild Arizona.
In two tweets, Ms. Romero wrote:
(1/3) Instead of using his platform to unify the state, Governor @dougducey chose to go off-script to appease a handful of radical state lawmakers.
This only serves to sew further division at a time when our nation is in desperate need of healing. https://t.co/1xFcLZ6sOP

Unfortunately, @dougducey has not advanced common-sense policies as simple as requiring Arizonans to #MaskUp statewide.
Arizonans are paying the consequences for his failure to implement science-based mitigation measures and willful ignorance of our public health experts.

Along with the other reactions expressed in an earlier article, Governor Ducey’s State of the State Address is largely a dud in most Democratic Party circles.
Mr. Ducey is going to have to do better in words and substance if he truly wants to strike bipartisan consensus the last two years of his term.

I didn’t think Romero’s State of Tucson was that forward looking either!
