Rep. Eli Crane Praises Sen. Tubervilles’ Destruction of our Military Readiness

I’m consistently unimpressed by the performance of Arizona’s newest United States Representative, Eli Crane. The man was a special forces operator, so I have tried hard to see any benefit from his direct combat experience being brought to bear on his work, but I consistently fail to see it. Instead, I find nothing but anti-vax crankery, anti-abortion hackery, and anti-immigrant misinformation and fearmongering. I’m sorry to say that Eli Crane is a waste of an Arizona seat in Congress.

Here are some recent examples of just how terribly Crane executes his new mission…

Crane Supports Tuberville’s Blockade:

I was deeply disappointed to find Rep. Crane SUPPORTING Alabama Senator Tommy Tubervilles’ blockade of our military promotions process – deeply impairing our military readiness, morale, retention, and effectiveness according to almost everyone EXCEPT Tuberville (and now, I guess, Eli Crane) – based on the completely unrelated issue of concern only to anti-abortion zealots to whom EVERYTHING else is subordinate to attacking women’s reproductive freedom – including our military readinesss.

Crane puts out a newsletter with updates to constituents, like so many other representatives (though not many of them are quite so…. militaristic). Yet despite Crane obviously leaning into his military service, Crane noted the following in his own newsletter:

“Support for [Tuberville’s] leadership”? You mean his leadership in single-handedly harming our military, Eli? That’s what you support? You agree with Tuberville that the way to get your religious views imposed on our women in military service is to hold up the promotional nominations for every top officer in the military, Eli? Disappointing.

I hope every active military member and vet in your district remembers this in 2024.

Crane Wastes the People’s Time on Anti-Vax and Anti-Woke Nonsense:

I was also recently deeply disappointed in Eli Crane’s performance of Congressional oversight of the military. He wastes the people’s precious time on nonsense.

When he could have been asking serious questions about the readiness and effectiness of our Coast Guard’s mission, he instead wasted on our time on MAGA dip-shittery like anti-vax fertility conspiracies and inquiring into non-existant ‘wokeness’ training.

Such ineffective and wasteful meanderings are, unfortunately, quite common topics for Crane’s attempts at ‘oversight’ of the military. You can practically see the effort it takes for the Admiral not to just roll his eyes at Crane’s irrelevant questions when Crane starts to question him about recruitment and retension and the immagined role of vaccination and wokeness.

Here’s an example:

Deeply disappointing that Crane would waste everyone’s precious time on such trivial nonsense. He pulls this crap all the time.

Crane Chooses to Insult and Belittle Immigrants and Refugees Instead of Celebrating the Spirit of Christ at Christmas:

Normally Longworth 2nd floor Christmas decorations are a bipartisan and amiable contest.

Rather than embrace and welcome the stranger – as advocated by Christ – during the season’s celibration of Christ’s spirit and legacy, Crane chooses to use his decorations to denegrate and belittle others. He created a sickening display of partisanship and hate-mongering amidst a tradition that is meant to celebrate love and the unity of mankind. Instead we get a border wall patrolled by Santa’s (or is that Satan’s..?) elves. Pitiful.

Eli Crane is a small and hateful man who besmirches the sacred with his hatred and fearmongery. He is unworthy to represent the great people of Arizona. At every turn, instead of growing into his role as a member of Congress, he makes the office smaller and less effectual with every passing day that he inhabits it.
