Representative Adelita Grijalva Reacts to the Trump Regime’s War on the Poor and Sick by Imposing Harsher Medicaid Work Requirements

Another example that Trump’s New American Golden Age does not include any of us.

The New York Times reported on June 1, 2026, that the Trump Regime has finalized wording to mandate that only people whose “medical conditions must ‘significantly impair’ their ability to meet the work requirement” for Medicaid.

According to the reporting, potentially people with HIV/AIDs, cancer, and end of state renal disease would not qualify for exemptions to the work requirement.

How cruel and merciless is that?

This new rule could potentially kick more vulnerable people off Medicaid at a time when costs, primarily due to Trump and Plutocratic Republican policies, are going up for all American Families.

Reacting to this new rule change, Arizona Representative Adelita Grijalva commented to Blog for Arizona:

“This isn’t about work. It’s about making it harder for people to keep their health care. Most Medicaid recipients who can work already do. These new requirements will create bureaucratic hurdles that cause eligible people to lose coverage, making it harder for working families to see a doctor, fill a prescription, or get preventive care. That’s bad for families, bad for public health, and bad policy.”

Representative Grijalva is right.

President Lyndon Johnson fought a war on poverty.

Donald Trump is fighting a war on the poor and sick with these onerous requirements, in the name of combatting waste, fraud, and abuse, designed to reduce insurance enrollee ranks and make people give up on getting the medical coverage they deserve.

Want to know who is guilty of more waste, fraud, and abuse probably more than all the cases of fraud in the Medicaid program combined?

America’s aspiring Duce, the 34-time convicted and twice impeached Donald Trump, who is using his position to enhance his and his family’s wealth portfolio, often at the expense of American economic and national security priorities, while using his Injustice Department to eliminate his tax liability.

If that is not criminal waste, fraud, and abuse, then what is?

Voters need to consider that when casting their ballots this November.
