Representative Consuelo Hernandez’s Bill to Provide Dental Care for Low Income Pregnant Women Clears House Health and Human Services Committee

Making life affordable for Arizonans again, along with quality and accessible health care.

That was the purpose of Arizona Legislative District 21 Representative Consuelo Hernandez’s bill (HB2958), which passed the House Health and Human Services Committee on February 9.

If it passes the whole State Legislature and is signed by Governor Katie Hobbs, this measure would “create a pilot program to provide dental care for low income pregnant Arizona women.”

Commenting further to Blog for Arizona, Representative Hernandez said, “This is a common-sense bill that would help establish a pilot program to provide preventative much needed dental care for low-income expecting mothers. As a state we can invest in making sure we support healthy mothers, as there is a direct link to healthy babies.”

After the passage in the Health and Human Services Committee, Hernandez released a video, asking supporters of the bill to contact members of the House Appropriations Committee to persuade them to support this needed program that ensures “every mom has a healthy baby.”
