How good is Brahm Resnik of Phoenix's Channel 12 News on the Pearce recall election? New Times' Stephen Lemons, AKA Feathered Bastard, who has been on the Pearce beat for years, sings the praises of Resnik's investigative work on the story.
Resnik has a terrific news piece with footage of Pearce saying his immigration views and those of the Mormon Church are essentially the same, and saying he contacted head honchos in the church, and they basically gave his anti-immigration stand their blessing.
Then Resnik shows it ain't so, on both counts. The Mormon Church is on the compassion/love-thy-neighbor side of the immigration debate and has made its stand abundantly clear, in writing. Pearce, of course, is on the anti-compassion, throw-'em-out/break-up-families-if-that's-what-it-takes side.
In other words, Pearce is lying about his own church. It's clear he's in trouble in District 18 these days, but if he's truly a believer as he says, he should also be in a great deal of trouble with his own conscience.
My post doesn't do justice to the quality of this 4 minute news segment. By all means, give it a watch.
