Send John Shadegg Packing

Shrimpshadegg
It’s time for John Shadegg to go. Arizona’s CD 3 has been targeted as one of the 40 districts of interest for a turn over by the DCCC in 2008. A loss by Shadegg would be a major blow the national GOP, not to mention giving Democrats a majority in our House delegation.

Shadegg ran unsuccessfully for majority leader when DeLay resigned in disgrace, resigning his chairmanship of the Republican Policy Committee. More recently, Shadegg is credited with orchestrating the caucus "no confidence" vote on the Senate immigration reform package that finally killed the effort. In all, I’d say Arizona would be far better off without John Shadegg in office, and luckily, we have a candidate in CD 3, Bob Lord, who is proving that he has what it takes to bring down a powerful incumbent ideologue like Shadegg: solid fundraising.

Bob Lord stunned almost everyone with his ability to raise funds in CD 3, posting 138K in his first quarter’s reporting. But, as we all know, politics is about momentum and Bob has to demonstrate his first quarter isn’t a fluke. He’s been tapping donors in his personal business network until now, but he needs to expand his donor base into the grassroots to sustain the campaign, retain momentum, and build the war chest he’ll need. That means we of the netroots need to step up if we want to take down Shadegg this cycle.

Today is the final day of the FEC reporting cycle, so your donations will make the greatest media impact if given today. Go to Bob’s Act Blue page and give what you can afford. What is another Democratic seat in Arizona worth to you?

  1. Shadegg voted against the 700 billion dollar bailout, but he voted for the bailout after the 150 billion dollar earmarks were added. Just some information for you voters out there, that may be wondering who this guy represents, you or the special interests.

  2. To hear Bob Lord in his own voice – listen to Jeff Farias’ show of May 6th – the last half hour. Bob is on for 20 minutes and takes questions.

  4. Bob Lord played a major role in keeping progessive talk radio on the air in Phoenix at 1480 KPHX. He has the support of people who I regard as solid progressive Democrats such as Mike Newcomb and Jeff Farias. Both Michael Bryan and I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lord at a recent Drinking Liberally meeting in Phoenix. He’s the real deal. I look forward to Micheal’s in-depth interview with him. He’s running in a heavily Republican district, so it will be an uphill battle.

  5. You know me better than that, Francine. I wouldn’t be asking people for money for his campaign if I didn’t think there was something more. I’ll be having an in-depth interview with Bob later, but I have met him and his wife, and my first impression is favorable.

  6. How nice he can raise money – does he have any other attributes, other than not being John Shadegg?

  7. I would hope that Bob Lord would be FOR the AMERICAN worker over that of The United States Chamber of Commerce; The AFL-CIO and the Catholic Church that are working to sell your and my Citizenship to Mexico City!!

  8. if he is the cause of the biggest giveaway in history not making it hooray for him….
