Every Friday before noon, I turn in a 650 word column to The Explorer, which appears in the weekly the next Wednesday. I figure I should advertise the columns here, right?
The tone I use in the columns is a bit different from the one I use for y'all. Consider your audience, my teachers told me and I told my students. The organization and tone are more formal, befitting a column, and I try to explain myself thoroughly than I do here, where I think of each post as part of a larger whole, written for a community drawn here by the bloggers and their topics.
This week's column is on one of my favorite topics, our over emphasis on competitive sports in high school.
