Team America: Will there be a sing-a-long/curse-a-long?

220px-Team_america_poster_300px David Safier had some fun with "King" Russell Pearce's nativist buddies back in June. Scofflaw Russell Pearce and his friends put the "F" back in Freedom.

Today his nativist buddies are back in the news. Remember when "King" Russell Pearce complained that the people behind the recall effort were out of state agitators who don't even live in Arizona? More than ten thousand of Pearce's constituents in District 18 signed the recall petition telling him he's gotta go.

It would appear the out of state agitators who don't even live in Arizona are Pearce's nativist buddies. National political committee forms to help Pearce in recall election – East Valley Tribune:

The state Senate president is going to get some financial help from a national political action committee in his bid to keep his seat.

Team America, set up by former Congressman Tom Tancredo and Bay Buchanan, who was Secretary of the Treasury during the Reagan administration, filed legal papers last week officially forming the Committee to Oppose Recall of Russell Pearce. The filing formally allows the committee to start taking donations and spending money to aid the Mesa Republican.

Matt Roberts, spokesman for the Secretary of State's office, said this committee is precluded from actually coordinating its efforts with whatever Pearce is doing on his own.

Right. The way this works in the real world is that all the coordination stuff has been worked out before the committee filed. Only then does the law kick in. Convenient, huh?

Roberts said, though, that any money Team America got before last Thursday – the day it formally filed its organizing papers – cannot legally be used to convince residents of Pearce's west Mesa district to keep him in office. He said state law precludes political committees from raising money before they have been formally set up under Arizona law.

He said, though, the committee would be free to return the funds to the original donors and ask them to resend them.

"Donors to Team America are free to give any amount they want to be used to help Pearce. But Roberts said it cannot accept any corporate or union money."

Naming the PAC after a movie about puppets manipulated by unseen puppetmasters seems an appropriate analogy, dontcha think?

Tucson's alt-movie theater The Loft every July 4th does a sing-a-long/curse-a-long to "Team America: World Police." THE "TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE" SING-A-LONG AND CURSE-A-THON! | The Loft Cinema.

Will Tom Tancredo and Bay Buchanan be leading the nativist out of state agitators who don't even live in Arizona in a sing-a-long/curse-a-long? And who are the puppetmasters pulling their strings?

UPDATE: So far this year, the Virginia-based Team America PAC hasn't received a single donation from Arizona. Sr. Reporter: Team America PAC has few Arizona donors. Just out of state agitators who don't even live in Arizona.
