At a press event earlier today (July 16, 2021,) Arizona’s Democratic Leaders: Party Chair (and Legislative District 30 Representative) Raquel Teran, Senate Leader Rebecca Rios, and House Leader Reginald Bolding demanded the state’s Attorney General Mark Brnovich heed the calls of Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and the Arizona Republic Editorial Board and launch an investigation into the election tampering in Maricopa County by Republicans Rudy Giuliani, Syndey Powell, and Kelli Ward.
The trio also denounced the continuing sham audit being conducted by the Cyber Ninja group.
Party Chairperson Raquel Teran

In her comments to the media, Party Chairperson Teran said the events since the election showed the “terrible lengths Republicans willing to go” with the revelations of probable post-election tampering and intimidation by Giuliani, Ward, and Powell.
Furthermore, she said that these Republican efforts at disinformation including the sham audit “only sow distrust and create uncertainty” with their lack of transparency and accountability.
Ms. Teran emphasized “…Mark Bronvich must do what’s right and open an investigation…at the end of the day, this is about every single voter in AZ and Bronvich has done nothing about it… Brnovich has a duty to all voters to ensure there is an investigation.”
Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Rios

Senate Democratic Leader Rios accused Brnovich of “folding” to the Trump Zone in order to gain base support for his Senate candidacy. Furthermore, she said the Attorney General’s “silence is dangerous as Republican lies fuel this sham of an audit. If he does not investigate, it shows he is selling the people out.”
Responding to a reporter’s question about whether Brnovich would listen to a Democratic request to investigate or if a deal could have been worked out with Senate President Fann, Senator Rios stated that “any requests from Democrats (to Brnovich) would be ignored…This was a unilateral decision by President Fann… There is a radical right-wing element that is never going to be satisfied with anything less than Donald Trump being President.”
Senator Rios, in answering my question on the House of Representatives launching an inquiry into the sham audit, said she was “grateful House is investigating” and “it is sad that this carnival sideshow is getting national attention. It is imperative that Congress investigate this and other instances of this across the country.”
Ms. Rios said that it was imperative that “at the end of the day, we need to let Arizona families know what these folks are doing.”
House Democratic Leader Reginald Bolding

Representative Bolding largely echoed Chairperson Teran and Senator Rios, saying of Brnovich, “if there was ever a time to stand up to his party, now is that time for Brnovich… we’ve seen investigations launched for far less…He needs to prove that he is above partisanship.”
Bolding also pointed out that “If Joe Biden and Democrats had acted this way, no doubt Brnonivich would have already started investigations.”
He also blasted the current vintage of the Republican Party, stating “Republicans, instead of changing their message, want to change their voters or the process…they are using this rhetoric to damage our Democracy…and cause political dysfunction.”

Mark Brnovich needs to put the needs of Arizonans and the future of Democracy ahead of his political opportunities and the unhinged views of the fanatical fringe right. If he can not, people like Mark Kelly should remind the people every day that Brnovich chose himself and the Trump Zone over the great majority of the state.
