That’s gotta suck for the GOP candidates

I previously reported that HSL Properties, Inc., and its president Humberto S. Lopez, are supporting the GOP candidates for Tucson City Council and making his apartment complexes available to them for posting their campaign signs. Update: Opposition to Prop. 200 Continues to Grow I suggested that the Arizona Multihousing Association, which is opposed to Prop. 200, may want to have a discussion with Mr. Lopez.

I don't know that any such discussion occurred. However, Jeff Rogers, chairman of the Pima County Democratic Party, informed me last week that Humberto S. Lopez hates Prop. 200 even more than he hates our Democratic council members, and he would be making a substantial financial contribution to the "No on Prop. 200" campaign and making his apartment complexes available for posting "No on Prop. 200" signs.

Well, the check must have cleared. HSL Properties is now listed as an opponent of Prop. 200 at Don't Handcuff Tucson – Vote NO on Prop. 200! Red and black "No on Prop. 200" campaign signs have sprung up on HSL Properties' apartment complexes, right alongside the campaign signs of the GOP City Council candidates' signs. When your biggest supporter is opposed to the only issue upon which your campaign is grounded, that's gotta suck for the GOP candidates.

The wheels are coming off of this campaign gimmick.
