In their latest ad, “Character Matters,” the Biden/Harris Campaign brilliantly frames the choice for voters in this year’s Presidential Election.
The ad starts off with the narrator saying:
“In the courtroom, we see Donald Trump for who he is. He’s been convicted of 34 felonies. Found liable for sexual assault and he committed financial fraud.”
The narrator pivots to President Biden, saying:
“Meanwhile Joe Biden’s been working, lowering health care costs and making big corporations pay their fair share.”
The narrator closes by stating:
“This election is between a convicted criminal who’s only out for himself and a President who’s fighting for your family.”
The ad is part of a $50 million campaign in the battleground states targeting Democratic and like-minded Independent/Republican voters.
Commenting on the ad, Biden/Harris Communications Director Michael Tyler offered:
“Trump approaches the first debate as a convicted felon who continues to prove that he will do anything and harm anyone if it means more power and vengeance for Donald Trump. That’s why he was convicted, that’s why he encouraged a violent mob to storm the Capitol on January 6, and it’s why his entire campaign is an exercise in revenge and retribution; because that man is blind to the people a president should be serving and will do absolutely anything for his own personal gain and for his own power.”
“Character matters, and the President of the United States should be someone who understands that the highest office in the land is about you and your family – not a vehicle to enrich yourself. That is the ethos Joe Biden puts into the job every day: to fight for safer communities, for the middle class, and to ensure that corporations are paying their fair share. It’s a stark contrast, and it’s one that matters deeply to the American people. And it’s why we will make sure that every single day we are reminding voters about how Joe Biden is fighting for them, while Donald Trump runs a campaign focused on one man and one man only: himself.”
Tyler’s remarks and the new ad can remind readers of Michael Douglas in the movie, The American President, when he, before the White House Press Corp states that “the Presidency is entirely about character.”
Voters on November 5 have to decide what the character of the country will be personified by.
Do they really want it to be the person who has 34 convictions, a sexual assault, and a business fraud finding? A former President who brags about taking away women’s reproductive freedom and suppressing your access to the ballot box? An individual who enables domestic terrorists to storm the Nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021? An American Mussolini-Duce want to be who has been endorsed twice by former KKK head David Duke and been impeached twice already? A science and history-denying candidate who advises people to inject bleach in their arms to ward off COVID, says windmills kill birds, and routinely lies about the nation’s past and current events?
Do the people of this country really want to go there again?
Come on.
It is all about character.
It is time for the American People to show theirs and consign Convicted 34 times over Donald ‘I want to be dictator for a day’ Trump to the dustbin of history,
