Join Arizona Public Media and The Buzz at the Dunbar Auditorium for a special live show on these topics as part of AZPM’s series on affordable housing called “Finding Home.” At this free event, The Buzz host Christopher Conover will moderate a discussion between panelists representing development interests, fair housing groups, and neighborhood associations. After the discussion, the panel will welcome questions from the audience.
Gentrification is on the minds of many, especially in Tucson’s downtown and westside neighborhoods. In recent years, those areas have seen the growth of student housing developments, infill projects, and “flipping” of homes in formerly working-class or lower income neighborhoods. For those who can afford to buy, the booming economy has also led Tucson’s housing demand to outstrip supply. Prices continue to rise unabated as the affordable and small-home side of the market has fallen away, leaving many struggling to find a quality, safe, and comfortable place they can afford to call home.
How can Tucson and Pima County foster economic development, affordable housing, and community building in ways that respect the character and residents of neighborhoods?”
Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Panel begins at 6:30 p.m.
