The Coming Week: Legislative Edition – Chapter 5, Wednesday and Thursday

Posted by Craig McDermott

As usual, all info gathered from the website of the Arizona Legislature, except where noted, and subject to change without notice…

On the Senate side…

Wednesday:

…Veterans and Military Affairs will meet at 1:30 p.m. in SHR2.  The highlght of this one seems to be a striker to SCR1021 relating to greenhouse gases and asking Congress to not allow the EPA to enact greenhouse gas control regulations that aren't industry-friendly.

…Public Safety and Human Services will meet at 9 a.m. in SHR3.  The highlight of this one seems to be a striker to SB1147.  It would remove mental disease or incapacity as a valid reason to rescind parental rights.

…Healthcare and Medical Liability Reform will meet at 9 a.m. in SHR1.  Seems quiet so far.

Thursday:

…Government Institutions will meet at 10 a.m. in SHR1.  Seems quiet so far.

Over on the House side…

Wednesday:

…Military Affairs and Public Safety will meet at 9 a.m. in HHR3.  Highlights include:

HB2632, banning "sanctuary city" policies, turning all of AZ's law enforcement officers into ICE agents, and other anti-immigrant language;

HCR2008, establishing the Arizona constitutional right to hunt and fish.

…Health and Human Services will meet at 9 a.m. in HHR4.  The highlight here seems to be HB2124, allowing urgent care centers to open for service without being inspected first.

Thursday:

…Natural Resources and Rural Affairs will meet at 8 a.m. in HHR5.  Seems quiet so far.

…Water and Energy will meet at 9 a.m. in HHR5.  Seems quiet so far.

…Transportation and Infrastructure will meet at 9 a.m. in HHR3.  Seems quiet so far.

Later…
