The GOP Gimmicks-R-Us Shop: Tea Party Temper Tantrum Day – Faux Repeal of Affordable Care Act

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

Crying-baby Today's the big day! It's Tea Party Temper Tantrum Day in Congress, and in a coordinated media effort, the Arizona Legislature will also hold a Special Session today to authorize our lame-duck governor to request a waiver from the maintenance of effort requirements of the Affordable Care Act. That didn't take long – 1st Special Session of the 50th Arizona Legislature on tap for Wednesday.

At the end of the day, the faux repeal of the Affordable Care Act will advance no further in Congress, and Arizona's request for a waiver from the maintenance of effort requirements will be denied because it would set a precedent for other states led by Tea-Publicans who disregard laws with which they ideologically disagree (and you really can't be asking for any favors when you are suing the federal government over the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act). Even arch conservative Robert Robb of the Arizona Republic says our lame-duck governor and Tea-Publican Arizona Legislature had better have a "Plan B" for when this latest GOP gimmick fails. Brewer's state budget should boast a Plan B.

So when they have kicked and screamed and cried themselves out like a "terrible threes" child throwing a temper tantrum, these Tea-Publicans will have accomplished nothing but wasting time and money and failing to address the serious issues confronting this country and this state.

Feel better now?
