‘The GQP Betrayed America. We Will Never Forget’ – Nor Will We Ever Forgive The Unforgivable

Democratic campaign vets have started the “Never Again PAC” to help defeat the 147 Republican lawmakers who still objected to the election results even after the Capitol attack.

Huffington Post reported, New Super PAC To Go After ‘Treason Caucus’ Republicans Who Tried To Overturn Election:

The 147 congressional Republicans who tried to throw out Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential election victory to keep Donald Trump in power will have to live with that choice forever, if a new super PAC does what its founders hope.

“We’re going to try and make sure that these members of Congress own this for their careers,” said David Bowes, one of the two Democratic campaign veterans behind the “Never Again PAC” and its associated super PAC.

Bowes, a former aide to Delaware Sen. Chris Coons, and Ian Moskowitz, most recently with the Biden campaign, hope to raise and spend $4 million by the time of the 2022 midterm elections. The money would help defeat 10 to 15 of the most vulnerable Republican members of Congress who voted on Jan. 6 to overturn results from states won by Biden — even after a violent mob incited by Trump swarmed the Capitol building and forced them to hide for their lives.

The pair has made a 45-second ad that splices footage of pro-Trump rioters attacking police officers at the Capitol with title frames that label the 147 Republicans the “treason caucus.”

Of the eight Republican senators who voted to reject the election results, only one is up for reelection next year: John Kennedy, in the relatively safe GOP state of Louisiana. Of the 139 House Republicans, Bowes and Moskowitz said that they plan to analyze which ones seem most vulnerable. Some possibilities include Mike Garcia, in a Southern California district Biden won by 10 points, and Beth Van Duyne, in a Texas district Biden carried by 5 points.

“We’re going to see where things shake out,” Moskowitz said. “We know what they did, and we’re going to make sure their constituents know what they did.”

They may have their work cut out for them, as the vast majority of the Republican Party and much of the country’s political press corps appear to have shrugged off what Trump did and now treat him as a legitimate candidate for the 2024 presidential nomination.

[P]ress coverage routinely elides Trump’s attempt to overturn the election he had lost to remain in power as it features quotes from his advisers about his strategy for 2024.

“It’s extremely concerning that the Republican Party is trying to move on. It’s why this organization exists,” Bowes said. “Republicans want to pretend Jan. 6 didn’t happen, but we’re here to say, ‘Never again.’ We’re going to make sure voters never forget exactly who put our democracy at risk.”

And Moskowitz pointed to recent polling showing that Americans, by nearly a two-to-one margin, continue to blame Trump for the Jan. 6 attack. “The general public is angry about it,” Moskowitz said. “We know that this message resonates. We think that it has staying power.”

The media group MeidasTouch has also created a #GOPBetrayedAmerica spot that calls out Republican opposition to the bipartisan commission to investigate the Jan. 6 MAGA insurrection. GOP Accused Of Betraying America In Progressive PAC’s Stinging New Ad:

“The GOP betrayed America. We will never forget.”

So ends progressive PAC MeidasTouch’s latest online ad that calls out Senate Republicans who on Friday blocked the creation of a bipartisan commission to investigate the Capitol riot, which was incited by ex-President Donald Trump.

Testimony from law enforcement officials at the Jan. 6 insurrection is cut alongside images of violence from Trump supporters in the 70-second spot. The video also criticizes GOP officials who are now downplaying the violence in a bid to show their loyalty to the former president.

“I experienced the most brutal, savage hand-to-hand combat of my entire life,” D.C. Metropolitan Police officer Michael Fanone says in the ad. (The quote is from an interview he originally gave to CNN.) Fanone was left with brain injuries after being beaten with pipes and stun guns.

The viral video is the latest to be created by attorney Ben Meiselas and his two brothers. Though it’s been seen more than half a million times on Twitter alone, it’s unclear if the spot will air on TV.

As a matter of fact … Fox News aka Trump TV, which is desperately trying to make the MAGA insurrection of January 6 disappear down the memory hole as if it never happened, refused to air the ad.

But not so fast. MSNBC’s Brian Williams Airs Ad About Capitol Riot That Fox News Rejected:

MSNBC’s Brian Williams on Monday night showed an ad about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that he and the ad’s creators said Fox News refused to air.

The “11th Hour” host transparently told his viewers that MeidasTouch, which created the ad, is “a liberal political action committee” and “ardently anti-Trump” before pointing to a Sunday tweet from the organization which read, “We made a $184,854 TV buy with this ad on Fox News this week. Fox News just denied airing our ad. Retweet and get it out in every corner of the country.”

The tweet included a video of Capitol police officers discussing the deadly riot from their perspective and Williams rolled that tape, saying, “Well, we have a pretty good reach, too, so we’ve chosen to air it tonight. While you watch, ask yourself, ‘What isn’t factual about it? Which people in it aren’t real?’ It’s about the attempt to overturn our election — the insurrection of 1/6 — and the story is told by those in the fight.”

The clip included testimony and interviews from responding officers who described how supporters of former president Donald Trump engaged in “the most brutal, savage hand-to-hand combat” and swung weapons, used chemical sprays on officers and called the respondents “traitors” for fighting back.

MeidasTouch is certainly getting a bang for its lack of buck on this one: The organization has tweeted about Fox News being “scared” to run the clip at least a dozen times since Sunday and launched a fundraising campaign based on the denial. Prior to this, the organization has frequently targeted Fox News with other unfavorable ads and tweets.

Since Monday, other MSBC hosts have also aired this ad as part of their program.

Fox News’ “cancel culture” only works at Fox.
