The guy behind Drinking Liberally

Went out to a tavern near Dupont Circle with a bunch of bloggers from around the country, and others. Among the "others" was Justin Krebs, the man behind Drinking Liberally.

When I told him I was from Tucson and we have a terrific DL group, he lit up. "Tucson? I love Tucson Drinking Liberally! They do such great stuff. That chapter is going in so many directions with 'Liberally Enterprise,' they're always surprising and inspiring the rest of us."

I mentioned The Shanty. He said, "The Shan-ty," like it was some far away, mystical place where wonderful things happen. He's toured DLs across the country, but has never made it our way.

"Hey," Justin asked, "do you know Michael Bryan?"

"I write on his blog," I told him. "I went to Drinking Liberally for the first time specifically to talk with Mike about blogging the Election Integrity hearings together. A month later, I began posting on my own."

Justin was thrilled about the whole thing. He's got the kind of infectious energy it takes to get something wonderfully off center like Drinking Liberally rolling.
