Jonathan Rothschild, Democratic candidate for Mayor of Tucson, has released his plan for Tucson and is asking for your ideas and feedback. How refreshing is it to have a candidate for public office ask you for your ideas and opinions instead of always telling you what he thinks and that he has all the answers?
Here is the announcement from the Rothschild for Mayor campaign:
Yesterday I released my 180 day work plan for Tucson – what I would do in my first 180 days as Mayor. The plan focuses on 4 areas: jobs and economic development, education, open government and the environment. You can read it yourself on my website.
I developed this plan after talking to thousands of Tucsonans. I decided to lay out specific steps I would take in my first 180 days in office, so that Tucsonans will know the kind of Mayor I intend to be.
But, frankly, I need your help to get the word out about my plan and how I want to bring jobs to Tucson as our next Mayor.
Please use the link below to forward this email – or write your own and include a link to the plan on my website. If you send this to 5 friends who live in the city, and they send it to 5 friends, think of the discussion we will get going!
Your help and involvement are the fuel for our campaign. Thank you!

Jonathan Rothschild sat down down for an interview with Rhonda Bodfield from the Arizona Daily Star for this report. Mayoral candidate Rothschild plans meetings in 1st 180 days:
Democratic mayoral candidate Jonathan Rothschild released his plan for his first 180 days in office should he win – and there are a lot of meetings in it.
He's promised to sit down with City Council members, employee unions, area mayors, county supervisors, the governor's office, school leaders and university officials. He's pledged weekly press conferences. Within six months, the native Tucsonan and lawyer will have held a town hall in every ward.
In many ways, the plan matches the priorities he outlined when he entered the race in January.
But Rothschild said the plan – which outlines his approach on jobs, neighborhoods, more-open government and the environment – essentially provides voters with a checklist to hold him accountable.
On jobs, Rothschild reiterated his plan to hire a small-business advocate. He wants a whittling down of the land-use code. He also wants to work toward a goal of assigning a single city inspector to any individual permitted project.
Rothschild, who said he'll hold mayor-business round tables, said he'll personally pick up the phone to talk up Tucson to prospective employers who might relocate here.
He said he'll protect public safety, address potholes and find ways to make the parks programs healthy. He'll promote solar, expand walkways, design roads to maximize groundwater recharge and plant more drought-tolerant trees.
Here are some pieces of the Star's discussion with Rothschild last week.
