Three’s Company . . .

Sen. Paula Aboud (D-LD 28) told Saguaro Eastside Democrats at their "I Love Liberty Party" on Saturday that she would announce she is running for Congress in CD 2 on Monday. When asked if she intends to resign to run or would run from her Senate seat, Aboud stated that there are some bills she feels strongly about which are coming up, which I take it to mean that she is staying in the Senate for the time being.

Rep. Steve Farley (D-LD 28) was also in attendance and talked about his LD 9 Senate campaign. But Farley informed those present that he has advisers looking at running for Congress in CD 2 and that he would have an announcement "in a couple of weeks." If one is only thinking about it, one plays those cards close to the vest. One does not put their cards on the table to show their hand to a receptive audience.

Rep. Matt Heinz (D-LD 29) graciously withdrew from the special election for the Giffords seat to clear the field for Ron Barber, but he made it clear that he is still a candidate for Congress in CD 2 in the fall.

Nan Walden, frequently mentioned for political races over the past decade, was on hand for Ron Barber's petition walk on Saturday morning to show her support. Walden has frequently been asked to the dance but has always declined. There are those in the party who hope that she will say "yes" this time.

Ron Barber also has not clarified whether he is in or out for the CD 2 race in the fall. He told reporters when announcing his camapign for the special election that he would have a decision within "in a couple of weeks."
