(h/t IWR Cartoon – Traitor Joe's)
Nietzsche: God is dead.
God: Nietzsche is dead.
Lieberman: Health care reform is dead.
The next line is up to you, Democrats.
Sen. Joe Lieberman (the narcissist "party of me!") represents the "Insurance Capital of the World" — Connecticut is headquarters to 72 insurance companies. Connecticut also has the highest concentration of insurance company jobs of any state – 3.2 percent of total state employment in 2005. Insuring Prosperity – HartfordInfo.org
So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Joe Lieberman would be opposed to a public option that would force one of his state's principal businesses to compete by lowering the cost of health insurance premiums, rather than continue enjoying their monopolistic power to fix prices, exempt from the threat of any anti-trust regulation. What a schmuck.
Joe Lieberman went on FAUX News Sunday (once again) to say (Transcript from Think Progress):
WALLACE: So at this point, I take it, you’re a “no” vote in the Senate?
LIEBERMAN: If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote because I believe debt can break America and send us into a recession that’s worse than the one we’re fighting our way out of today. I don’t want to do that to our children and grandchildren.
That's right. Traitor Joe has volunteered to be the designated hitter to filibuster health care reform in the Senate.
At what point do Democrats stop behaving like an abused spouse taking abuse from his or her tormentor and finally say "enough is enough!," and show Traitor Joe the door? Kick him out of the caucus, strip him of his committee chairmanships, and reassign his Senate office to the janitor's closet. Sometimes you have to make an example out of someone to keep the troops in line. If you let Traitor Joe get away with this shit, you invite senators like Evan Bayh, Ben Nelson, Kent Conrad, Blanche Lincoln, Mark Pryor, and Mary Landrieu to do the same. They need to know "look what happened to Joe" to keep them in line.
Whatever promises of good behavior Joe Lieberman made to Democrats to retain his chairmanships earlier this year have clearly been broken at this point. Party discipline requires that there is a price to be paid for defying party leadership on procedural votes. Continuing to suffer Traitor Joe's abuses is not going to win his love and support for cloture on the health care reform bill. His abusive behavior makes that clear.
The time has come for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to plot a strategy for a reconciliation vote if necessary (just as Republicans did to pass George W. Bush's two deficit busting tax give-aways to corporations and the wealthy), and for the Democratic caucus to punish Traitor Joe. Trust me, you will all feel so much better when Traitor Joe can no longer abuse you.
Show Traitor Joe the door.
