Tony Navarrete is an example of someone who, because of his recently revealed disgusting acts toward children, Democrats need to disown and consign to political retirement.
The Legislative District 30 Democratic State Senator has been arrested on two counts of sexual contact with underage male minors.
According to reporting by AZ Central, police were able to listen in on a phone conversation where Mr. Navarrete apologized to one of his victims for his criminal acts.
Navarrete has to go.
Many leading Democrats in Arizona agree.
Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman tweeted:
These are deeply disturbing charges, and while everyone is innocent until proven guilty, Senator Navarrete needs to resign. We must hold our elected leaders to the highest standards.

On Friday afternoon, a joint press release from Arizona House and Senate Democrats called for Navarrete’s resignation, posting:
JOINT STATEMENT: In light of these disturbing charges, House and Senate Democrats are calling on Senator Navarrete to resign immediately. Abuse of this kind is intolerable and our hearts go out to the victims. pic.twitter.com/nDnHr12Wfm

The leadership of the Arizona Democratic Party has followed suit, releasing a statement that relayed:
“While everyone in this country is entitled to a fair trial, elected officials must be held to the highest ethical standards. Given the gravity of the felony charges against State Senator Tony Navarrete, the Arizona Democratic Party is calling for his immediate resignation.”
While Republicans have no second thoughts about defending their vile own like Donald Trump Matt how old was she Gaetz, Mark I was with the January 6 Domestic Terrorists Finchem, Wendy I harrassed staff my first month in the legislature Rogers, and Marjorie I’ll stalk people Taylor Greene, Democrats have no problem setting a higher standard and not follow the former members of the former Party of Lincoln’s despicable example when members of their own party are accused of committing similar or worse grotesque acts.
Tony Navarrete needs to resign and face the consequences for the crimes he is accused of.
John Kavanagh, this is a political blog, not a crime report.
Pointing out the differences between how Dems handle scum like Navaratte and how you GQP folks protect yours is a legit discussion point for a political blog.
I truly wish you’d learn some critical thinking skills, it would save Arizona a lot of money and embarrassment.
I meant Navarrete.
Ummm John? Did you not read the post? Navarro is a Democrat. That’s one of the major differences between the Democratic and Republican parties. When a Democrat exhibits degenerate behavior that individual is disavowed. On the other hand when one of your fellow travelers exhibits degenerate behavior you immediately circle the wagon and leave no stone unturned to insulate that person from deserved consequences. Examples would be the Vulgar Talking Yam and Roy Moore. Or is leaping to the defense of child molesters a go-to move of yours?
I’ve asked you on a few occasions how many handcuffed suspects did you bravely beat when you were a cop? Why won’t you answer? What are you hiding! Enjoy your evening.
I find it repulsive that you would use an incident in which children were victimized in one of the worst ways to wage a partisan attack. Really low.
Dude, are you really so ensconced in the GQP bubble that you do not even know who your fellow House members are in the Democratic Party?
Jeremy Duda reports, “Democrats call for Tony Navarrete to resign amid child sex allegations”, https://www.azmirror.com/blog/democrats-call-for-tony-navarrete-to-resign-amid-child-sex-allegations/
The Senate and House Democrats jointly issued a statement calling for Navarrete, D-Phoenix, to step down.
Navarrete is a member of the legislature’s LGBTQ Caucus, which issued a separate statement asking him to step down.
The Arizona Democratic Party issued a statement asking Navarrete to step down.
Secretary of State Katie Hobbs called for Navarrete’s resignation as well, as did Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman.
Democratic Congressman Ruben Gallego tweeted, “In light of this evidence. Sen. Navarrete needs to resign.”
On the Republican side of the aisle, Gov. Doug Ducey called for Navarrete to step down, tweeting, “Sen. Navarrete should resign immediately. These allegations are abhorrent. My prayers are with the young victims and their loved ones during this traumatic time.”
On Twitter Duda adds:
Senate President Karen Fann says Navarette must step down. https://twitter.com/jeremyduda/status/1423823149343281155
Laurie Roberts of The Republic writes, “Sen. Tony Navarrete needs to resign. As in today. Now.”, https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/laurieroberts/2021/08/06/arizona-sen-tony-navarrete-needs-resign-today-now/5520974001/
Still clutching your pearls and reaching for the smelling salts, Johnny?
Oh, does Johnny get the vapors at a mere whiff of partisan politics? Give me a fucking break.
