Rep. Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, is urging President Donald Trump’s White House physician to conduct and publicly release a comprehensive cognitive and neuropsychological exam of the president, citing what he calls alarming signs of mental decline amid the ongoing Iran war and recent threats of mass destruction on social media.
In a detailed April 10 letter to Dr. Sean Barbabella, Raskin points to Trump’s profane Easter posts about Iran, his Iran-focused rant at the White House Easter Egg Roll, and a chorus of concerns from conservative allies—including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Alex Jones, some invoking the 25th Amendment—as evidence that Trump’s behavior has moved “out of the realm of normal politics” and into a “profound medical” concern.
Raskin sets an April 24 deadline for the doctor to test Trump and brief the committee under oath.
