Totally Normal: MAGA’s Weird Renaming Kink

Why does the right keep trying to rename stuff? There’s a reason disreputable leaders slap their names on everything. It’s not about legacy. It’s about control.

And MAGA? They understood the assignment.

Their latest fever dream just pushed through the House? Rename the Kennedy Center Opera House after…wait for it…Melania Trump.

Eww. Seriously?

A “First Lady” in Name Only

Yes. The same First Lady who gave us Christmas decor straight out of Gilead’s holiday catalog. The one who wore a jacket that screamed “I really don’t care, do u?” while visiting a child detention facility. Nothing says “national treasure” like cruelty as a fashion statement.

John F. Kennedy believed the arts were a vital tool in the fight for democracy and civil rights. Melania mostly posed for photos while squinting like she was trying to read a teleprompter from across the Rose Garden. She spent her husband’s first term doing her best impression of selective hearing. But sure. Let’s slap her name on the cultural crown jewel of Washington, D.C.

Jack Schlossberg, JFK’s grandson, wasn’t having it. He quoted his grandfather on Instagram:

“A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers.”

Exactly.

Because this isn’t about Melania or her half-assed accomplishments. It’s about MAGA’s full-time mission to suck up to a dictator and rewrite reality in Trump’s image, one gaudy gold plaque at a time.

Trump’s ego isn’t satisfied with buildings, golf courses, steaks, vodka, or even Trump University. He wants to live forever through signage. And when he can’t slap his name on something, the MAGA horde lines up to do it for him.

This isn’t commemorating greatness. It’s defacing public institutions with loyalty graffiti.

Cue the MAGA Whataboutism

And just when you think it can’t get any dumber, here comes the MAGA retort:

“But isn’t that what the woke left did by renaming military bases?”

Oh honey. No.

Here’s the difference, explained slowly:

Democrats removed the names of men who literally waged war against the United States to defend slavery. Confederates weren’t misunderstood statesmen. They were violent insurrectionists. Who. Lost.

You’re not supposed to name institutions after domestic terrorists.

MAGA wants to replace tributes to public service with monuments to nepotism. That’s not preserving history. It’s rebranding failure as heroism.

Taking Jefferson Davis off a sign isn’t erasing the past. It’s refusing to glorify treason.

Putting Melania Trump on an opera house is erasing the past. Namely, the part where we had standards.

Authoritarianism with a Spray Tan

Name changes might sound harmless, until you realize it’s a shell game. Can’t win the future? Rewrite the past. Rename it. Repaint it. Relabel it. Call it patriotism and hope no one notices it’s really just propaganda with a comb-over.

This is how strongmen operate: control the narrative, claim victimhood, rename everything in sight, and act shocked when people remember what actually happened.

Let’s Not Normalize This

Melania Trump does not belong on a venue dedicated to artistic excellence any more than Donald belongs on Mount Rushmore.

This isn’t harmless trolling. It’s cultural gaslighting. It’s legacy laundering. It’s the long game of turning democracy into a brand.

So if you hear another whimpering call to rename a public landmark after a Trump, go ahead, pick one:

• A sewage treatment plant

• A landfill

• A public urinal

• A casino that already went bankrupt

But don’t touch the Kennedy Center.

  1. “A sewage treatment plant” The incomparable John Oliver was happy to have the sewage treatment plant in Danbury, Connecticut named after him!

    • Nancy Reagan was renown during her acting days in Hollywood for giving great head.

Look it up. Very popular girl.

Melania Trump is a former prostitute, soft core pr0n model, meme coin scammer (among other scams) and illegal immigrant who hates Christmas.

I don’t want to sex shame anyone, but between the two, I have more respect for Nancy, and I have no respect for Nancy.

    • Fortunately for MAGAts, the voters of SF have already set a less petty example. There was a ballot question there about renaming a sewage treatment plant there after W (years before Cheeto became POTUS).

It was defeated, and it wasn’t close.

Of course, that won’t stop MAGAts from trying to suck up to Cheeto.
