True Courage and A Glimmer of Hope

Posted by Bob Lord

I've said many times that we're living through a great experiment of how much wealth and income we can jam into the top 1% before the bottom 90% explodes, while the 9% in the middle wring their hands. I still hope Occupy will bring that day closer.

In the meantime, the action of the Wal Mart workers in Califrornia truly is inspiring. You can read about it here. These workers have incredible courage. They don't yet have the protections of a union and we're in one of the toughest job markets in a generation. They know retaliatory firings are likely, yet they launched a strike to stand up for their rights and their dignity.

If these poor, downtrodden workers have the courage to stand up, maybe, just maybe, there's a glimmer of hope that the rest of the poor and the middle class will stand up as well. They hope to have a large presence at Wal Mart stores on Black Friday. We should all stand with them.
