Arizona Republicans suffering from delusion and denial that Joe Biden won the election in Arizona have now crossed into a dangerous mental state: they are pledging to die to defend a lie (a veiled threat of violent insurrection against the lawful government of the United States).
Mediaite reports, Arizona Republican Party Now Calling on Voters to Fight and Die For Trump’s Election Fight:
The Arizona Republican Party escalated its hyper-charged political rhetoric by urging people to fight to the death on behalf of President Donald Trump’s attempts to dispute the 2020 Election.
Chairwoman Kelli Ward continues to dispute the certification of the results in court, even though Trump’s own legal team has never been able to produce evidence for his claim that the 2020 general election was tampered with by mass voter fraud.
On Tuesday, the Arizona Republican Party cranked things up a few notches when they retweeted “Stop the Steal” advocate Ali Akbar for saying “I am willing to give my life for this fight.”
“He is. Are you?” The party asked.

Minor side note: Akbar is known to have a criminal history and a reputation for fraud.
That wasn’t the only tweet the Party issued on Monday. Here’s them tweeting a clip from Rambo and saying “This is what we do, who we are. Live for nothing, or die for something.”
UPDATE – 10:44 a.m. ET: The party has deleted the tweet with the Rambo clip, so here’s a screenshot.
And if you were wondering how this is going over, well, the response from Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman should give you an idea.
The AZ GOP put out a casting call for martyrs over Twitter.
This is truly bonkers and unbelievably dangerous.
I’ve been saying all along about how *punitive* it is to be a Republican who just simply acknowledges electoral *reality*. https://t.co/w2Zrma0VrQ

Arizona Capitol Times Senate reporter Julia Shumway tweeted:
I keep thinking I’m done being surprised, but seeing one of Arizona’s two major political parties asking if its followers are willing to die for a baseless conspiracy did it. pic.twitter.com/GZ2iEXasIl

But this was not the only insanity coming from delusional Republicans in denial. The so-called “protect the vote” rally they planned to hold at the Capitol on Monday afternoon was preceded by a press release allegedly signed by 28 Republican current members or members-elect in the Arizona Legislature.
Twenty current Arizona lawmakers and eight newly elected ones signed onto a statement today calling to decertify the election. Full list:

Jeremy Duda reports at the Arizona Mirror that there appears to be a problem with this Republican press release.
This story about AZ GOP lawmakers calling to decertify the election cites, & even includes a copy of, a press release that I don't think has actually been released.
It's also dated Sunday, Dec 5 (Sunday was the 6th) and falsely claims Bowers is calling for decertification. pic.twitter.com/uR3KvGEGZs

.@JustinWilmethAZ, a Republican representative-elect from LD15, tells me he didn’t authorize his name being on that statement

Are these 28 Republicans pledging to die to defend a lie? Are they on board with a violent insurrection against the lawful government of the United States?
In that case, they are in violation of their oath of office and engaged in illegal conduct that disqualifies them from serving in public office, and they should immediately be removed from office.
This is the Arizona Republican Party. Openly inciting violence. At what point do federal authorities review sedition statutes? https://t.co/T2IXMKpVZj

No more humoring and coddling these insane QAnon conspiracy cult members. It’s past time to stop the insanity. Enough is enough.

The Arizona Republic briefly covered the so-called “protect the vote” rally on Monday. “‘Cowardly’ say some Arizona Republicans of leaders following closure of Legislature”, https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2020/12/07/some-arizona-republicans-call-leaders-cowardly-after-legislature-closed/6483240002/
Lawmakers appear at ‘Protect the Vote’ rally despite closure
Despite the closure, about 15 current and future Republican lawmakers joined a crowd gathered for a “Protect the Vote” election integrity rally at the Capitol on Monday afternoon. A handful had possibly been exposed by Giuliani last week, and all but one were unmasked.
Packed alongside Arizona voters and other officials, they took turns addressing the crowd.
Rep. Bret Roberts, R-Maricopa, disputed a rule requiring a bipartisan supermajority of legislators to agree in order to call themselves into session regarding election results, calling it “hogwash.”
“We need to decertify the election,” he said to cheers.
Rep. Travis Grantham, R-Gilbert, egged on the crowd and punctuated his statement with an expletive, saying: “I’d like to know who would be supportive of this legislative body getting its a– back in session.” Attendees answered with whoops and a chant of, “Do your job! Do your job!”
Well, based on their maskless faces, I’d say yes, yes they are willing to die for a lie.
And they believe afterwards they’ll get pie in the sky!
