Trumps Mania for Greenland is Forcing N.A.T.O. Allies to Send Security Forces to that Nation to Stop the United States

Article Five of the N.A.T.O. charter, the clause that authorizes alliance members to come to the defense of another member who has been attacked, has been triggered only once since the organization’s founding in 1949.

That was in 2001 after the Al-Queda attacks on the United States on 9/11.

Now, in 2026, Article Five may be activated again…against the United States if it invades Greenland.

Donald Trump, with his ICE-Gestapo agents running amuck in American Cities, has made the government an agent of fear in the eyes of most Americans.

Now, he is making this nation the perennial bad guy and pariah on the international scene, first in cutting off USAID to vulnerable global populations. Then, with his actions in Venezuela. Now, with his threats to take Greenland one way or another.

In reaction to Trump’s bellicose statements, Denmark, Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden, ironically some of the nations the White Nationalist Trump would like immigrants to come from, are sending security forces to Greenland, with tensions rising with Donald Trump, whose mania for acquiring that area, apparently at any cost, has only intensified after the United States bombed Venezuela, seized their oil assets, and started depositing proceeds, not in American accounts, but in a Qatari one.

In remarks reported by the New York Times, Mr. Trump said he wanted to acquire Greenland “whether they liked it or not and after talks yesterday between Denmark, which controls Greenland, and the United States yielded no meaningful agreements other than to organize a working group to seek a solution, Trump said:

“If we don’t go in, Russia’s going to go in, and China’s going to go in, and there’s not a thing Denmark can do about it. But there’s everything we can do. You found that out last week with Venezuela.”

Before his team’s meeting with Denmark’s Foreign Minister, Trump posted:

Commenting on the escalating situation, French President Emmanuel Macron said:

“If the sovereignty of a European country and ally were to be affected, the knock-on effects would be unprecedented. France is monitoring the situation very closely and will act in full solidarity with Denmark and its sovereignty.”

In the House of Representatives, a bipartisan group of legislators has introduced a measure to block the Trump Regime from using military action against N.A.T.O. members.

Commenting on that legislative proposal on social media, Arizona Representative Greg Stanton wrote:

“American troops and tax dollars should not be used to invade any NATO member country or territory, including Greenland.”

In the Senate, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly has written:

“President Trump continues to talk about taking military action against Greenland. He recently said something to the effect of doing this the “hard way.” If the “hard way” means attacking and taking Greenland by force, this President is dumber and more incompetent than most of us thought. Add an unqualified Secretary of Defense and we have the recipe for the biggest geopolitical blunder by the United States in our country’s history. If he takes aggressive action against Greenland, we will lose our allies. The world will change dramatically and American families will be less safe.”

Senator Ruben Gallego and a bipartisan group of Senators met with the foreign ministers of Greenland and Denmark yesterday, posting:

Gallego also introduced a resolution to stop Trump’s “aggression toward Greenland,” saying in the below post that the American Duce Wannabes imperial posture is

“Making us less secure. By us attacking or claiming to attack a N.A.T.O. ally, we are essentially destroying one of the most secure partnerships and alliances that we need to counteract Russia and to counteract China. So the ostensible reason that we’re doing this is to stop their growth. We’re actually weakening ourselves versus us and them going to the future in order for us to be able to fight the China problem. Fight the Russian problem. Going into the future, we need to have great alliances with the EU and NATO nations…If this President fully goes through with all his actions would actually destroy NATO…”

Another Senator not seen also commented that Trump’s actions “would be the greatest gift to Vladimir Putin.”

Galleg added “And China.”

Gallego and others, like Mitch McConnell, one of the reasons the country is in this mess, thanks to his move as Republican leader to not convict Trump during his second impeachment, are right to point out that the actions of Trump and his America First-Isolationalist-Back to Manifest Destiny-Sphere of Influence-Fascist gang would deal a death blow to the N.A.T.O. alliance.

McConnell, on the Senate floor, used the word “incinerate.”

Unfortunately, that is, despite polling from CNN that shows 75 percent of Americans oppose any move against Greenland, probably what Trump and his gang want, as they constantly project a pre-World War Two mindset of isolationism, gunboat diplomacy in the American Hemisphere, and aversion to global alliances.

Most Republicans in Congress, who just yesterday stopped a resolution that called on Mr. Trump not to expand operations in Venezuela, are probably too spineless to do anything to stop Trump’s designs on Greenland and destruction of the N.A.T.O. alliance as well.

And after Greenland, what comes next? Cuba? Mexico? Canada?

Afraid yet?

That is why voters need to elect people in the next elections who will not throw out what has been successful with American Foreign Policy since World War II.

  1. Felonious Punk squeals “I’m a victim of Russia Russia Russia” and then helps Putin accomplish one of his primary goals. And the Republicans are complicit.
