I told you that Pat Darcy used paid petition circulators in recent weeks to collect his signatures. "Generally speaking, paid petition circulators have at best a 60% valid signature rate of return, which could leave Darcy short of the number of valid signatures required to qualify for the ballot." Tucson City Council Election: At least two petition challlenges, maybe more.
It looks like my prediction was right. Jim Nintzel reports at the Tucson Weekly that there will be a petition challenge to Pat Darcy. Pima County Democratic Party Endorses Mayoral Candidate Rothschild. Plus: Expect a Legal Challenge to Darcy's Signatures:
[Pima County Democratic Party Executive Director Adam] Kinsey says a review of independent mayoral candidate Pat Darcy's signatures show enough invalid ones to merit a court challenge to knock him from the ballot. Kinsey says party members also plan to challenge Republican mayoral candidate Shaun McClusky's signatures.
This is in addition to the petition challenge to Marshall Home™, sovereign citizen. By the way, research reveals that our sovereign citizen has a felony conviction in the U.S. District Court of Arizona for one count of simple assault on a Deputy U.S. Marshall in the performance of his duties, in violation of 18 U.S.C. Sec. 111(a)(1) back in 2002, and he was sentenced to ten months in prison with credit for time served and a $2,000 fine. Maybe our "Ace" political reporters in Tucson should run the full background check on our sovereign citizen. Nah, that would involve actual investigative reporting.
