Tucson City Council Election Update: Two more mayoral petition challenges in court

Posted by AzBlueMeanie:

On Monday, June 20, at 1:30 p.m., the petition challenge to independent Pat Darcy will be heard by Judge Paul Tang in Courtroom 472. Sam Almy v. Pat Darcy, et al., Case No. 20114391.

On Tuesday, June 21, at 1:30 p.m. [UPDATE: Hearing has been moved to 3:30 p.m.], the petition challenge to Republican Shaun McClusky will be heard by Judge Richard Gordon in Courtroom 486. Brittni Storrs, e al. v. Shaum McClusky, et al., Case No. C20114398.

Pima County Superior Court Building, 110 West Congress Street, Tucson, AZ.

Both petition challenges are expected to be successful, leaving only Democrat Jonathan Rothschild and Green Party candidates Dave Croteau and Mary DeCamp as mayoral candidates.

We should anticipate the shenanigans of an attempted Republican write-in candidate at the primary election, if the GOP can recruit anyone to run. I am guessing Pima County Republican Party chair Brian Miller is in a world of hurt right now. Due diligence in verifying petition signatures to make sure your candidates have enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot is a function of county parties. Republican partisans are an unforgiving lot. What will his masters from the State of Maricopa do to him?
